BOSTON – Looking for its third straight victory, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Lafayette on Wednesday night with the NESNplus broadcast set to begin at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as there will be a BU basketball backpack giveaway.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers enter the matchup with momentum after snapping Colgate's 12-game home win streak, 76-68, over the weekend and claiming a 68-54 home win last Wednesday against in-state rival Holy Cross.
  • Junior Tyler Scanlon averaged a team-high 18.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg to earn his first two double-doubles of the season and to increase his conference averages to 12.9 ppg and 5.2 rpg, respectively.
  • Junior Max Mahoney ranks third in the PL in conference games at 17.8 ppg and tied-for-eighth in rebounding (6.4 rpg) ... He also ranks 11th nationally at 64.9 FG% and more importantly is shooting 78.3 FT% at the line in conference play after posting a 55.6 FT% last year.
  • As a team, BU has heated up the last two games from behind the arc, shooting combined 18-of-38 (.474) to defeat Colgate and Holy Cross to increase season average to 33.9 3FG%.
  • The Terriers rank 39th nationally at 47.8 FG% while averaging 72.0 ppg and are holding opponents to 71.3 ppg and 45.8 FG%.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
  • The Leopards are 2-8 in conference play but have six single-digit losses and wins against two teams who have already beaten the Terriers in American and Loyola.
  • Lafayette is 3-8 on the road compared to the 2-8 home mark with victories against the Eagles, La Salle and Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • Following 10 conference games, 6-foot-1 guard Justin Jaworski is averaging a team-high 15.5 ppg while shooting a stellar 56.7 percent from behind the arc with 6-foot-3 guard Alex Petrie close behind at 14.5 ppg.
  • 6-foot-7 forward Paulius Zalys leads Lafayette in both assists (3.8 apg) and rebounding (5.7 rpg) while averaging 11.3 ppg.
  • Lafayette is averaging 10.1 made 3-pointers per PL game to help post 73.0 ppg, but opponents are averaging 49.5 FG% to offset the Leopards' production from beyond the arc and average 78.7 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 12-6, dating back to 1948-49 and is 10-2 since joining the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.
  • The Terriers eliminated the Leopards in the 2014 PL quarterfinals but were eliminated themselves by Lafayette in the 2015 quarterfinals.
  • BU came back with sweeps in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
  • In the previous meeting at Case Gym, BU trailed 37-22 with 5:39 remaining in the first half before going on a 31-6 run capped by Mahoney's layup at 14:04 in the second half … The Terriers shot 54.5 percent in the second half and used a 26-4 run to claim an 81-65 victory featuring 28 points off Lafayette turnovers … McCoy tallied 21 points with the help of four 3-pointers.
  • Last season in Easton, the Terriers faced an eight-point deficit (44-36) with 15:40 remaining before going on a 25-4 run capped by Will Goff's 3-pointer at 6:13 ... The Leopards rallied in the final minute to pull within two with eight seconds left, but the Terriers hit a free throw and forced a tough 3-point attempt to seal the 75-72 road win.
