Terriers Compete at David Hemery Valentine Invite

RESULTS

BOSTON – In their final competition before the Patriot League Championships, the Boston University women's track & field team hosted the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday.

The Terriers had several strong performances including the 4x400m relay team of Mikajah Hayes, Leah Fowlkes, Anna Foreman and Jordan Coverson, who finished fifth with a time of 3:44.42, the fastest in the PL this season by more than four seconds.

Sophomore Bridget Chiaravalle advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles and finished eighth with a time of 9:00 while senior Lovie Burleson finished second in the long jump with a 5.79 meter leap.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES 
  • Sophomore Bridget Chiaravalle finished seventh in the prelims of the 60m hurdles with a time of 9:07 in a field of 27 to qualify for the finals. In the finals, Chiaravalle finished eighth with a time of 9:00.
  • The 4x400m relay team of Mikajah Hayes, Leah Fowlkes, Anna Foreman and Jordan Coverson had an excellent performance, finishing fifth with a time of 3:44.42, the fastest PL time this season.
  • Freshman Andrea Claeson made her debut in the 800m and finished with a time of 2:14.08 and in 35th place in a field of 197, currently eighth best in the PL this year.
  • Senior Ebony Brown competed in the 60m dash and finished with a time of 7.92 and in 22nd.
  • Senior Jordan Coverson finished the 400m dash with a time of 56.79, in 28th place in a field of 172 and third best in the PL this year.
  • Freshman Stephanie Casaletto made her debut in the 1000m and finished with a time of 2:59.74 and in 47th place in a large field of 101 runners.
  • In the field, senior Lovie Burleson finished second in the long jump with a 5.79m leap.
  • Senior Sarah Cicchetti took seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 17.31 meters.
  • Senior Rachel Wilhelm took 10th in the pole vault with a 3.36m vault.

OTHER NOTABLES
  • Laura Roesler of Team Nike, got the crowd into the meet quickly by running the fastest women's 800m in facility history with an amazing time of 1:59.80, breaking the previous record of 2:00.30 set by Lynsey Sharp of Nike back in 2016.
  • Jenna Westaway of the University of Guelph broke the BU facility record and the Canadian record in the 1000m run with a time of 2:37.04. Westaway broke the old TTC mark of 2:39.25 set by Mary Chain in 2014.
  • Riko Matsuzaki of Team Sekisui Kagaku broke the women's Japanese record in the 3000m with a time of 9:00.86.
