LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Concluding a challenging slate of games in California, the defending Patriot League champion Boston University softball team will face three other 2018 NCAA participants at Cal State Fullerton's Easton Invitational.

The Terriers (11-9) will first battle the host and defending Big West champion Titans on Thursday with a 9 p.m. ET first pitch. They will then face Long Beach State (2 p.m. ET) and defending Big East champion DePaul (4:30 p.m. ET) on Friday afternoon. One day later, BU will wrap up its spring break trip against the College of Charleston (1:30 p.m. ET) and Iowa State (3:30 p.m. ET). 

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is on a four-game losing streak, having dropped two games at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday by a combined score of 5-3 following losses to current No. 1 UCLA (12-0) and 2018 Big South champion Liberty (5-0) ... The Terriers started off the California trip with wins over West Coast Conference champion BYU (7-6), Robert Morris (4-0) and San Diego State (6-0).
  • Senior Alex Heinen (.246) was named PL Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .357 last weekend at the Louisville Slugger Invitational ... She leads BU with six homers and 19 RBIs with 12 runs scored and just needs four more RBIs to tie the program record at 140.
  • Previously named PL Player of the Week, senior Emily Morrow is hitting a team-high .381 with 10 runs scored and 11 RBIs ... Classmate Alexa Ponce collected a combined four hits against LMU on Tuesday to increase her average to .305 to join Morrow, sophomore Marina Sylvestri (.308) and freshman Aliyah Huerta-Leipner (.306) above .300.
  • Freshman Nicole Amodio (.265) joined both Huerta-Leipner and Heinen in posting multiple homers this season with a two-run blast against the Lions on Tuesday ... She also collected BU's first triple of the season and has reached home plate 11 times.
  • Sophomore Ali DuBois (8-3, 1.41 ERA) leads the pitching staff with four shutouts and an opposing batting average of .228 while tallying 77 strikeouts in 69.1 innings.
  • Freshmen Emily Gant (2-4, 2.63 ERA) and Julia Handfield (1-2, 5.15 ERA) have combiend for the other nine stats.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

@ Cal State Fullerton, 15-9 (Thursday, 9 p.m. ET)
  • The three-time defending Big West champion Titans went 35-25 last season and reached the NCAA Regional finals before being eliminated twice by UCLA.
  • CSUF is 8-3 at home this season after dropping a 1-0 decision to Houston on Tuesday ... The Titans have notable wins over Oregon (3-2), San Diego State (5-1), UConn (11-3) and South Florida (5-4).
  • The Titans are batting .254 with a 23-14 advantage in homers while holding opponents to .229.
  • Ari Williams is hitting a team-high .388 with five homers and 18 RBIs, while Alexa Neil (.348) has 20 runs scored ... Deshea Hill (.329) is second on the team with 17 RBIs ad owns five doubles.
  • Sophie Frost (7-3, 2.78 ERA), Dani Martinez (4-3, 2.64 ERA) and Taylor Dockins (3-3, 2.49 ERA) have all made at least six starts apiece.
  • BU is 1-2 all-time after dropping a 6-0 decision in 2018 and earning a split in 2017. 
Long Beach State, 8-14 (Friday, 2 p.m. ET)
  • The 49ers went 43-14 last season and earned an NCAA at-large bid before going 1-2 in the NCAA regionals with a win over New Mexico State.
  • LBSU most recently dropped a 5-3(8) decision to then-No. 2 UCLA and has notable wins against Liberty (7-0), North Carolina (8-4) and Army (4-2).
  • The 49ers are batting .273 with a 53-33 advantage in extra-base hits while holding teams to .291 ... Opponents though have a 22-6 advantage in stolen bases.
  • Jamie Wren (.347) owns five homers, two triples, four doubles and team-high 27 RBIs, while Nichole Fry (.320) has fou homers and 12 RBIs ... Sydney McCollum is also hitting over .300 at .321 while adding four doubles.
  • Ashley Coleman (5-6, 3.59 ERA) and Kellie White (2-6, 4.80 ERA) have combined for 19 of the team's 22 starts.
  • LBSU is 2-0 all-time against BU, winning each of the last two seasons by a combined three runs (6-4, 1-0).
DePaul, 17-5 (Friday, 4:30 p.m. ET)
  • The Big East champion Blue Demons went 34-17 last season with an 0-2 record at the NCAA regionals.
  • DePaul has lost its last four games to Memphis, Wichita State, Houston and Texas State by a combined score of 22-6 following earlier notable wins against Houston (2-0), New Mexico (4-2, 9-5) and Hawaii (4-3).
  • The Blue Demons are hitting .276 while holding opponents to .238 .. DePaul owns a 31-23 advantage in doubles and 75-46 lead in walks.
  • Greenwood is batting a team-high .368 with 16 RBIs, while Jessica Cothern (.343) owns seven doubles, three homers and 22 RBIs ... Kate Polucha (.329) and Angela Scalzitti (.304) are also hitting over .300 with a combined 33 runs scored.
  • DePaul has relied on just two pitchers, Natalie Halvorson (9-2, 3.05 ERA) and Krista Dalgarn (8-3, 3.99 ERA).
  • The teams are meeting for the first time in program history.
College of Charleston, 11-11 (Saturday, 1:30 p.m. ET)
  • The Cougars are sitting at .500 after posting a 31-27 mark last season ... They own notable wins over Purdue (8-4), Pitt (10-4), Dartmouth (7-6) and UMass Lowell (5-1) and then losses last weekend to Bryant (7-3) and NC State (2-0).
  • Charleston is batting .287 as a team while holding opponents to .299 ... Through 22 games, the Cougars have outscored opponents by one run, 97-96.
  • Madi Brow (.362) owns a team-high 12 runs and eight doubles with nine RBIs, while Lexee Emanuel has 11 RBIs and 12 runs ... Gracyn Thrasher (.320) has three homers but only five RBIs.
  • Drayton Siegling (3-0, 2.70 ERA), Izzy Berouty (2-4, 3.62 ERA) and Summer Jenkins (2-3, 5.37 ERA) have all earned at least five starts apiece in the circle.
  • The teams are meeting for the first time in program history.
Iowa State, 13-9 (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET)
  • The Big 12's Cyclones are coming off a 23-33 season ... ISU has won last four games with a 9-0 victory over Utah State and three wins against Cal Poly by a combined score of 18-7.
  • ISU is batting .254 while earning a 53-37 advantage in extra base hits and holding opponents to .228.
  • Sami Williams leads the charge at .387 with 16 runs, eight doubles, two triples, four homers and 15 RBIs ... Both Sally Woolpert (.290) and Kaylee Bosworth (.263) have combined for 25 RBIs.
  • Emma Hyle (6-3, 2.01 ERA), Shannon Mortimer (4-2, 2.05 ERA) and Savannah Sanders (1-4, 3.50 ERA) own at least six starts apiece.
  • BU won the lone meeting, 4-3, in 2015 in Tampa, Florida.
