BOSTON – Concluding a five-game homestand, the Boston University softball team will host UMass Lowell on Wednesday afternoon with the doubleheader set to begin at 3 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is a perfect 9-0 at home by a combined score of 39-6 with three-game sweeps against both Holy Cross and Colgate with non-conference wins against Boston College, UMass and Rhode Island.
  • With two games remaining against UMass Lowell, BU is 5-1 against in-state rivals with the lone loss occurring last week at Harvard (4-2).
  • The Terriers are batting .245 overall and .308 at home while holding opponents to .226 and .150, respectively.
  • Highlighted by a two-RBI walk-off triple against BC, senior Emily Morrow is hitting .317 and has tallied eight of her 19 RBIs at home.
  • Senior Alexa Ponce (.277) went 3-of-3 against Colgate on Sunday and is now hitting .448 at home ... Senior Alex Heinen is close behind on campus at .444 to push her overall batting average to .298 while tallying a team-high seven homers and 27 RBIs.
  • Freshman Aliyah Huerta-Leipner (.254) leads BU with 23 runs scored and six doubles.
  • Sophomore Ali DuBois (16-8, 1.41 ERA) and freshman Emily Gant (6-7, 1.85 ERA) have been standouts at home, combining for 71 strikeouts against 32 hits allowed in 62.0 innings of work with two shutouts apiece.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
  • The River Hawks are a perfect 8-0 in the America East and are riding a 12-game win streak with five one-run victories, including an 8-7(9) victory at UConn.
  • In other non-conference action, UML owns a 4-1 win against Bucknell and dropped two one-run decisions at then-No. 22 Stanford (7-6, 4-3).
  • UML is batting .281 and holding opponents to .285 while posting a 26-17 advantage in homers and 45-38 lead in doubles.
  • Standing 6-foot-1, Courtney Cashman leads the nation batting .556 with 12 doubles, eight homers, 26 RBIs and 30 walks.
  • Sydney Baker (.381) and Melany Sheldon (.324) are the other two batting over .300 ... Baker, Casey Harding (.274) and Maria Moccio (.265) have combined for 13 homers.
  • Lovina Capria (12-5, 2.30 ERA) owns 68 strikeouts in 103.1 innings while holding opponents to .261 ... Both Capria and Kaysee Talcik (7-5, 3.38 ERA) own one save apiece and have combined for three strikeouts.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 12-2 all-time against the River Hawks in a series dating back to 1990, though there was a break between 1995-2014.
  • BU is 7-1 since the renewal of the series with three one-run victories and a 4-2 home loss in 2017.
  • Last season, the Terriers won a DH at Lowell by a combined score of 20-3 (10-2, 10-1) ... Heinen led the way batting 7-of-8 with four runs scored and four RBIs.
