EASTON, Pa. – Boosted by four homers and 12 strikeouts, the Boston University softball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep at Lafayette on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers (27-17, 10-1 PL) combined for 21 hits with six doubles to extend their win streak to seven games and also improve to 17-0 all-time against the Leopards (7-30-1, 1-10 PL). Senior
Alex Heinen provided a three-run homer in the top of the first to spark a 14-1 run-rule game one victory, and freshman
Nicole Amodio broke a scoreless deadlock in the top of the fourth of game two with her own three-run bomb for a 7-0 win.

Emily Gant (8-7) held the Leopards to a combined eight hits while avoiding a single walk in 12 innings of work. Four different Terriers tallied three hits on the day with freshman
Aliyah Huerta-Leipner doubling twice and hitting a homer to lead BU with five RBIs.
GAME 1: BU 14, Lafayette 1 (5 inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Huerta-Leipner led off with a double and senior Emily Morrow drew a walk, Heinen went yard to left for a 3-0 advantage.
- The Leopards bounced back in the bottom of the first with a double and two-out RBI single against DuBois, but the Leopards would only manage one more hit the rest of the game.
- The Terriers created distance between the two squads with five runs off five hits and a wild pitch in the top of the second.
- Both Huerta-Leipner (double) and Heinen had RBI hits before senior Madi Killebrew delivered a decisive blow with a two-out two-run homer to center.
- Huerta-Leipner struck again in the third with a two-out, two-run blast to right center to plate Amodio and put the game in run-rule territory.
- BU continued the offensive onslaught during the fourth with four runs off three hits and hit-by-pitch.
- Senior Alexa Ponce followed Killebrew's double with a two-RBI double.
- With the bases loaded, Amodio was hit by a pitch and then Huerta-Leipner earned her fourth RBI on a fielder's choice grounder.
- Freshman Julia Handfield replaced DuBois in the circle in the fifth and seald the run-rule victory with three ground outs.
GAME 2: BU 7, Lafayette 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers loaded the bases in the second on a pair of singles and walk but were unable to take advantage with a strikeout.
- The Leopards led off the bottom of the second with a single and sac bunt before Gant earned a pair of swinging strikeouts to keep the game scoreless.
- With two outs in the fourth, Amodio followed sophomore Marina Sylvestri's walk and senior Analisa Ruff's single with a two-out three-run homer to left for the 3-0 advantage.
- The Leopards brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the bottom half with the help of three singles before Gant earned another strikeout to end the threat.
- BU added two more runs in the sixth with the help of Sylvestri's single, Ruff's sac bunt, sophomore Jen Horita's walk, back-to-back hit-by-pitches and Morrow's RBI grounder.
- The Terriers put the game away in the seventh on Killebrew's single and back-to-back RBI doubles from Gant and Ruff.
- Gant sealed the victory by earning a 1-6-3 double play.
DOUBLEHEADER NOTES
- Horita, Amodio, Killebrew and Huerta-Leipner collected three hits apiece on the day with Horita, Amodio, Gant, Huerta-Leipner and Heinen all scoring three runs apiece.
- Heinen moved into a tie for sixth in the BU career record book at 21 homers alongside Amy Ekart ('14) and also into sole possession of eighth at 204 hits.
- Junior pitcher Kali Magane collected her first career hit with a pinch-hit single up the middle in the top of the fourth.
- The Terriers' 14 runs in game one were the most in a contest since BU defeated Lehigh, 14-7, on the road in the 2017 Patriot League semifinals.
- The game one 13-run margin of victory was the highest since the Terriers claimed an 18-2 win against Hartford at home in 2010.
- The 20-run margin in the doubleheader sweep was the highest since the Terriers defeated Stony Brook on the road by a combined score of 23-3 in 2011.

- The Terriers will conclude the weekend series Sunday with the Patriot League Network broadcast set for 12 p.m.
- BU will be seeking its third three-game sweep of the year after accomplishing the feat at home against Holy Cross and Colgate.
