BOSTON – Making its second consecutive appearance on NESN, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Holy Cross on Saturday with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
Both teams participated in overtime contests this past Wednesday with the Terriers falling to Navy (60-58) and the Crusaders edging Lehigh, 96-95. Saturday's matchup will mark the sixth contest of all the Turnpike Trophy all-sports series featuring the two schools. Owner of the previous four Turnpike Trophies, BU currently leads, 3-2, following the fall slate of results.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Looking to snap a two-game losing streak, BU is currently tied-for-fourth in the PL standings at 4-3 with three home wins and a oad win at Loyola Maryland (85-53).
- Senior Max Mahoney (14.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg) earned his third double-double (14 pts., 10 rebs.) of the season against the Midshipmen while adding a career-tying four steals.
- Sophomore Walter Whyte (13.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg) has reached double figures in a personal-best 10 straight games following a 14-point, nine-rebound performance on Wednesday.
- Junior Javante McCoy (10.4 ppg) leads the Terriers in assists at 3.4 apg.
- BU is averaging a team-high 70.8 ppg and 45.5 FG% while holding opponents to 68.5 ppg and 44.0 FG%.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
- Led by first-year head coach and former Marquette associate Brett Nelson, the Crusaders are 2-6 at home this season with the win over the Mountain Hawks and 63-61 victory against Navy ... Their other win came against Mercer (81-67) on a neutral court.
- Owner of five Patriot League Rookie of the Week awards, 6-foot-5 forward Joe Pridgen leads the Crusaders at 16.4 ppg and 6.9 rpg.
- 6-foot-5 guard Austin Butler is second in both categories at 11.4 ppg and 6.6 rpg.
- The Crusaders are averaging 68.1 ppg and 44.0 FG% while holding opponents to 80.6 ppg and 49.7 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Crusaders lead the all-time series, 53-22, but the Terriers are 9-3 since joining the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.
