BOSTON – Boosted by senior
Max Mahoney's second double-double of the season, the Boston University men's basketball team extended its home win streak to five games with an 84-67 victory over Lehigh on Wednesday night at The Roof.
Mahoney was one of four Terriers (8-8, 2-1 PL) to finish in double figures, as he tallied a game-high 23 points, career-high 15 rebounds and personal-best six assists in his 100th career appearance in the scarlet and white. Posting 16 assists against a season-low seven turnovers, BU outscored the Mountain Hawks (4-11, 1-2 PL) off turnovers (19-9) and second-chance points (15-7) to avenge last year's 84-79 home loss.

Javante McCoy reached double figures for the sixth time in eight games with 14 points alongside four assists. Sophomore

Sukhmail Mathon combined for 22 points and 15 rebounds, while sophomore
Jonas Harper contributed 12 points. Jordan Cohen led Lehigh with 19 points, six assists and four steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Facing an early 7-6 deficit, Evan Taylor flushed a 3-pointer to spark a 13-5 run capped by Cohen's trey at 11:19 for Lehigh's largest lead of the game (19-12).
- Cohen added one more in response to Whyte's bomb to keep the Mountain Hawks ahead by seven (22-15) before the Terriers started marching back.
- Harper followed up on his layup with a 3-pointer at 9:16 to help the Terriers go on an 18-4 run.
- Providing the game-changing moment, Mahoney first tied the game for the final time at 6:53 at 26-26 before earning a steal and fastbreak layup while drawing a flagrant foul.
- Mahoney hit both free throws and then assisted on McCoy's 3-pointer at 6:12 for the seven-point single possession.
- McCoy flushed his third trey in the final minute to put BU's lead at 45-37 entering the locker room.
- Whyte started the second half with a layup and free throw to give the Terriers their first double-digit lead of the game before Mahoney extended it to 14 (58-44) on a jumper at 14:53.
- Marques Wilson helped Lehigh mount a rally by hitting two 3-pointers during a 10-0 run over the next three minutes.
- The Mountain Hawks would never get any closer though, as junior Sukhmail Mathon responded with a layup and bonus free throw.
- Owning a 61-56 advantage with 11:11 remaining, McCoy added his final bomb to spark a 9-2 spurt capped sophomore Fletcher Tynen's pair of free throws at 7:27.
- Tynen added five more points from the charity stripe during the final 65 seconds to help seal the victory.
GAME NOTES
- BU's five-game home win streak is the program's longest since the Terriers won five straight during the 2013-14 schedule.
- Contributing 20+ points for the fifth time in seven contests, Mahoney surpassed both Neil Burns ('76) and Eric Fanning ('17) to grab the No. 15 slot in the BU career record book at 1,282 points.
- Mahoney's 15 rebounds topped his previous high of 14 and were the most by a Terrier since Justin Alston ('17) posted 15 against Holy Cross on Dec. 30, 2016.
- Mahoney also topped his previous high of five assists set twice previously.
- Tynen contributed a season-high nine points off the bench in 20 minutes of action.
- Becoming the first opponent to score more than 79 points against the Mountain Hawks this season, BU finished 30-of-65 (.462) while holding Lehigh to 26-of-61 (.426).
- The Terriers improved to 9-7 all-time in the series.
