The Boston University men's lacrosse team will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to face Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
This will be the first time that BU and Bellarmine will have met. The Knights will be the 23rd different opponent the Terriers have played in their seven-year history.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
- Bellarmine is 2-3, most recently dropping a 20-13 decision at Detroit Mercy on Tuesday afternoon.
- The Knights' wins have been against Hampton and St. Bonaventure, and they also battled Marquette to an 11-10 loss.
- Landon Trout leads Bellarmine with 17 points thanks to a team-high nine assists.
- Brayden Brown has scored a team-best 12 goals and is second on the squad with 16 points.
- The Knights face off at just 44.6%, with J.T. Simonton having won 36 of the 76 draws he has taken this year.
- Jon Robbins leads Bellarmine with seven caused turnovers and 14 ground balls.
- JC Higginbotham, the reigning SoCon Defensive Player of the Week, has started all five games in the cage, posting a .470 save percentage and an 11.71 goals-against average.
D'ALTO DOMINANT AGAIN
- Freshman Vince D'Alto has been the Terriers' best offensive player over the last two games.
- After he paced the BU offense with career highs in goals (3), assists (2) and points (5) at UMass Lowell on Feb. 15, D'Alto notched five goals and added an assist for six points at Bryant on Tuesday.
- D'Alto now leads the Terriers with nine goals and 13 points, while his four assists rank second on the squad.Â
- Eight of his nine markers have come in the last two tilts.
- D'Alto is tied for third among NCAA rookies in goals, and only two freshmen have totaled more goals in a game this season than D'Alto.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
- All six of the Terriers' starting attackmen and midfielders have registered at least one point in each of the last two games.
- The starting attack unit of freshman Vince D'Alto (8g, 3a), sophomore Timmy Ley (2g, 1a) and freshman Louis Perfetto (2g, 3a) have combined for 12 goals and seven assists over the last two contests.
- The starting midfield trio of sophomore Jake Cates (1g, 1a), junior Tommy Nook (1g, 2a) and senior Jared Nugent (3g) were responsible for five goals and three assists.
- Ten different Terriers tallied at least one point at Bryant and 14 different BU players have found the score sheet over the last two games.
THREE TERRIERS ARE ALL-NEW ENGLAND
- Seniors Reece Eddy, Chase Levesque and Joe McSorley were all named to the preseason All-New England Team on Wednesday afternoon.
- McSorley was the first-team selection at goalkeeper, while Eddy and Levesque were chosen for the second team.
- Levesque was an All-New England honoree at the end of last year as well.
EDDY EXCELLENT AGAIN AT BRYANT
- Senior Reece Eddy has been one of the best LSMs in the country this season.
- He ranks second in the nation with 12 caused turnovers, and his total of 21 ground balls is first in the NCAA among non-faceoff specialists and 12th overall.
- At Bryant on Tuesday, Eddy notched his first assist of the season in addition to leading the Terriers with three caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
- Eddy has recorded 11 ground balls over the last two tilts.
CHASE CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
- Senior Chase Levesque continued his strong start to the year on Tuesday, as he recorded five ground balls and forced three turnovers at Bryant.
- Levesque ranks sixth in the nation with eight caused turnovers.
- He has also gathered 17 ground balls, which is third on the Terriers.
CAUSING HAVOC
- The Terriers rank first in nation in both caused turnovers per game (13.5) and total caused turnovers (54), 12 more than the No. 2 team.
- BU also ranks third in the country with 140 ground balls.
- Saturday's matchup will feature two of the top three teams in that category, as Bellarmine leads the NCAA with 150 total ground balls.
NUGENT NOTCHES ANOTHER GOAL
- Senior Jared Nugent has tallied a goal in each of the Terriers' four games this year.
- He enters Saturday ranked second on the squad with five goals.
- This comes after he only scored one goal last season.
- That marker came in the Terriers' last game of the year, meaning he enters this weekend with a five-game scoring streak.
LEY LIGHTING IT UP
- Sophomore Timmy Ley has scored a goal in 13 straight games dating back to last year.
- He has collected four goals and two assists for six points this season.
- Ley has started at attack in all 21 games he has played as a Terrier.
PERFETTO KEEPS ROLLING
- Freshman Louis Perfetto has collected five points over the last two games, totaling two goals and three assists.
- He has yet to be held without a point in four contests.
- Perfetto leads the Terriers with five assists and is second on the team with eight points.
MCSORLEY MAKING SAVES
- Senior Joe McSorley has combined for 33 saves over the last two games, including a 16-save effort on Tuesday at Bryant.
- Three of Bryant's 15 goals came while McSorley was playing out of the cage.
- McSorley has averaged 13.25 saves per game, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League and 16th overall.
- He also owns a top-20 save percentage in the nation at .564.
