CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Continuing an eight-match road trip, the Boston University men's tennis team coasted to a 7-0 victory over defending NEWMAC champion MIT on Saturday afternoon at the JB Carr Tennis Bubble.
With their first sweep of the season, the Terriers (3-4) snapped a three-match losing streak, as the Engineers opened their dual season at 0-1. BU was visiting MIT for the fifth straight season and improved to 4-1 during that stretch following three 4-3 victories and a 5-2 defeat in 2017.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Ethan Kolsky and freshman Jon-Kyle Tan jumped out with a comfortable 6-2 victory at line 3.
- Juniors David Bogatin and Owen Lu posted a 6-4 win in the top slot, while sophomore Max Hartenstein and freshman Kirill Belov triumphed in No. 2 match, 7-5.
- BU claimed five of the six singles points in straight sets with junior Pete Siozios dropping the fewest games with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at line 4.
- Lu (#2), Hartenstein (#3) and Belov (#6) all dropped just five games apiece to continue the team's dominance on the day.
- Bogatin won a tightly-contested first-set tiebreaker and went on to claim the 7-6(8), 6-4 victory in the top slot.
- Kolsky completed the sweep by rallying for a 6-7(5), 7-6(4), 10-7 victory at line 5.

- The Terriers will make the short trek to Harvard for a 6 p.m. start on ESPN3.
