CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – After dropping a hard-fought doubles point, the Boston University women's tennis team earned one singles point off the racquet of junior
Alex Angyalosy in a 6-1 loss at Boston College Friday afternoon.
Ranked as high as No. 49 this season, the Eagles (9-4) won five singles matches in straight sets against the Terriers (5-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC rolled to a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
- Junior Dani Blaser and freshman Sofia Kostirko were in a 5-5 stalemate but were unable to see their No. 3 match to the finish.
- The Eagles' No. 35 ranked duo of Yufei Long and Kylie Wilcox edged junior Emily Kim and sophomore Shelly Yaloz, 6-4, to clinch the first point.
- Ranked No. 90 nationally in singles, Long held off a late charge from freshman and No. 116 Erica Di Battista, 6-3, 7-6(3).
- BC won in straight sets at lines 2, 3, 4 and 6 to increase its point total to six.
- After cruising in the first set, Angyalosy stumbled in the second but helped BU avoid the shutout by posting a 6-1, 3-6, 11-9 victory.
NEXT UP: DARTMOUTH
- The Terriers will next host the Big Green on Saturday at the Mount Auburn Club with a 3 p.m. start.
- BU is 3-0 at home this season with 7-0 sweeps against Binghamton, Bryant and Rhode Island.
