No. 16 BU Hits the Road Friday Night to Begin Home-and-Home Series with Merrimack

The No. 16 Boston University men's ice hockey team will face Merrimack in a home-and-home series that begins Friday night at Lawler Rink and concludes Saturday night at Agganis Arena. Puck drop for both contests is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Effective Oct. 15, 2021, all guests 12 years and older will be required to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a qualifying negative COVID-19 test to gain access to Agganis Arena and the Case Center for ice hockey and basketball games. TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU split last weekend's home series with Sacred Heart, posting a 4-1 win on Saturday after a 3-2 loss the previous evening.
- Junior Domenick Fensore was named Hockey East Defender of the Week after he tallied four points (1g, 3a) over the two games.
- BU is 16-for-16 on the penalty kill through its first four games.
- The Terriers have killed off 20 straight penalties dating back to March 14, 2020.
- BU is the only school in the country with a top-10 power play and a top-10 penalty kill entering this weekend.
- The Terriers are 10th in the country on the power play at 30.8% (4-for-13).
- Thirteen different Terriers have registered a point this season, including seven different goal scorers.
- Juniors Robert Mastrosimone and Sam Stevens each notched their second goal of the season against the Pioneers.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Merrimack returned to .500 at 2-2 after earning a 5-3 win at Colgate on Saturday to salvage a split with the Raiders.
- The Warriors fell to Colgate in overtime, 2-1, the previous evening.
- Merrimack also has a 4-2 home win over Sacred Heart and a 5-2 loss at Providence on its ledger.
- Graduate student Max Newton leads Merrimack in both goals (4) and points (6).
- Sophomore Alex Jefferies has notched one assist in each of the last three games to lead Merrimack in that category.
- Junior defender Declan Carlile leads the Warriors in blocked shots (8) and plus-minus (+5).
- Sophomore goaltender Zachary Borgiel has started three of his team's four games, posting an .894 save percentage and a 3.02 goals-against average.
- Freshman Hugo Ollas made his NCAA debut on Oct. 15 at Colgate, making 30 saves in the OT loss.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Merrimack have played 121 times since first meeting on Dec. 11, 1964, and the Terriers hold a commanding 91-22-8 (.785) advantage.
- The Terriers are 30-12-5 (.691) at Lawler Rink, including a 4-2 win last season.
- BU is 22-4-2 (.821) in the 28 meetings that have taken place at Agganis Arena.
- The teams have battled it out in overtime just 10 times and the Terriers are 0-2-8 in those contests.
- BU recorded the first 14 shutouts in the series until the Warriors blanked the Terriers for the first time ever during the 2018-19 season.
