WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After scoring the overtime goal in Boston University's comeback win at UConn on Saturday, freshman winger Luke Tuch has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Right as a BU power play was coming to an end in overtime, Tuch teamed up with senior Logan Cockerill on a rush. After a UConn defender popped the puck loose, Tuch quickly batted it down right in front of him and calmly beat UConn netminder Tomas Vomacka high to the blocker from the slot to end the game help the Terriers come away with a 3-2 win after giving up the game's first two goals.
Tuch is the third BU freshman in the past five weeks to receive the award, joining goaltenders Drew Commesso and Vinny Duplessis. The Baldwinsville, N.Y., native has nine points on five goals and four assists thus far this season. His point total ranks third on the team and he trails only sophomore Jay O'Brien in goals.
The Terriers have now won nine of their past 10 games and moved up to No. 8 in both national polls on Monday, their highest ranking since the start of the 2018-19 season.
