Terriers Host Holy Cross at PL Challenge

BOSTON -  The Boston University women's track & field team hosted Holy Cross in the Patriot League Challenge at the TTC on Sunday.
 
The Terriers had a strong showings from senior Cecelia Gerstenbacher, who won the 60m dash in a time of 7.92, while junior Alicia Thomas took second in the event with a time of 8.15.
 
Noelani Phillips finished first in the 200m with a time of 25.07 while Emma Montoya finished second in 25.41.
 
Freshman Emma Kowalski had a great debut, winning the weight throw with a toss of 15.46m (50'8.75"). Kowalski also took second in the shot put (10.85m, 35'7.25).
 
In the last event of the meet, the 4x400m relay team of Gerstenbacher, Emma Montoya, Jaiden Ritter and Alicia Thomas took first with a time of 4:10.17.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES 
  • Freshman Jules Hogan made her debut and won the long jump with a mark of 5.35m (17'6.75") while senior Arden Creson took third (5.29m, 17'4.25")
  • Freshman Emma Kowalski had a great debut, winning the weight throw with a toss of 15.46m (50'8.75"). Kowalski also took second in the shot put (10.85m, 35'7.25).
  • Junior Lauren Sikoski finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 3.20m (10'6") while freshman Savanah Garcia took fifth (2.90m, 9'6.25"). 
  • Sophomore Natalie Kwortnik finished second triple jump with a leap of 11.15 meters  (36'7").
  • Senior Cecelia Gerstenbacher won the 60m dash in a time of 7.92 while junior Alicia Thomas took second with a time of 8.15.
  • Freshman Emma Scarra competed in the high jump and finished third with a 1.45m (4'9") effort.              
  • Sophomore Noelani Phillips won the 200m dash with a time of 25.07 while senior Emma Montoya took second (25.41) and sophomore Jaiden Ritter finished third (26.05).

Sunday's competition concludes the Terriers' indoor season and the teams will begin preparation for their outdoor season. Details on the outdoor schedule will be announced as soon as finalized. Scheduling decisions are made to ensure the health and safety of the BU campus and the greater Boston community.
