BOSTON – Led by a record-breaking performance on the draw by
Jennifer Barry, the Boston University women's lacrosse team outmatched Holy Cross, 17-12, Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
Barry set the single-game draw control record in the first half with 16 and finished with 18 on the afternoon. Her 18 draw controls are the most any player in the NCAA has won in a single game this season.
Ava Barry and
Makenzie Irvine each posted seven points on the afternoon on three goals and four assists apiece, while
Jennifer Barry also produced a hat trick. The Terriers spread it around as 14 of their 17 goals were assisted, and a season-high nine student-athletes found the back of the net.
BU was equally imposing on the defensive end, limiting the Crusaders to complete just 14-of-24 clear attempts, as
Emily Vervlied caused four turnovers to go with a five-point effort on the attack.
Kennady Smith made 12 saves for the second straight game to earn her first win of the season in net.
