Men's Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision at Bryant

CUMBERLAND, R.I. – The Boston University men's tennis team captured the top two singles points but was unable to carry the momentum through the rest of the matches in a 5-2 loss at Bryant on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (2-0) held off the Terriers (2-2) to earn the hard-fought doubles point and then claimed three of their four singles points in straight sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Pete Siozios and freshman Tanisq Mallpani battled Bryant to a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles before coming up just short, 7-6.
  • Bryant won the top two doubles matches by a combined score of 12-5.
  • In singles, Bogaitin earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at line 1, while Siozios held off 2019 All-NEC First Team honoree Wilson Dong in a 7-6, 6-1 win in the No. 2 slot.
  • Senior Owen Lu rallied to force a third set at line 3 before Bryant eventually prevailed, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
  • Of the three straight-set losses, freshman Owen Voight won the most games in a 6-2, 7-5 decision in the No. 6 position.
NEXT UP: Colgate
  • The Terriers will open conference play against Colgate in Latham, New York, on Sunday, March 14, at 5 p.m.
  • BU won the last meeting, 4-0, to end the regular season in 2019.
