BOSTON – Competing in its lone home match of the season, the Boston University women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over Merrimack on Friday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center.
With their third sweep, the Terriers improve to 4-1, while the Warriors drop to 2-4. BU captured the doubles point by a combined score of 18-7 and claimed six singles points in straight sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Seniors Lily Burchell and Emily Kim posted a 6-2 win in the top doubles slot, while junior Shelly Yaloz and freshman Kaitlin Tan earned the same score at line 3.
- Sophomore Erica Di Battista and freshman Victoria Carlsten completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at line 2.
- Both Kim (#2) and senior Dani Blaser (#6) dropped the fewest games with identical 6-1, 6-1 victories in their respective singles match.
- Di Battista rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win at line 1, while Yaloz (#3) pulled out a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 3 slot to go 2-0 on the day.
- Sophomore Steph Nguyen (#4) earned a 6-4, 6-0 win with senior Mia Wallace (#5) also dropping just four games in a 6-3, 6-1 victory to complete the singles sweep.
