HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Hilburn and Baugher.
- Utah evened the score with 2:25 to play in the opening quarter, but Bourque and Baugher connected on a nifty feed and finish to give the Terriers a 3-2 lead with just six seconds on the clock.
- Neither team got anything going on offense in the second quarter until Quadrino's first of the day gave BU a 4-2 lead.
- The Utes responded with two goals in a span of 1:01 to send the teams to the break tied at 4-4.
- Wilson and Ley traded goals to begin the third quarter, but then the Utes scored the next three goals to take an 8-5 lead early in the fourth frame.
- Quadrino's second of the day made it 8-6, but MJ McMahon pushed the lead back to three with 12:17 to play.
- Howard found Perfetto in transition to cut the deficit to 9-7 with 10:03 remaining.
- Utah won the next faceoff, but Ellerton immediately forced a turnover and DeGoler scooped up the ground ball before firing home his first collegiate goal at 9:48.
- Ley then connected with Baugher on an EMO to tie the game at 9-9.
- Ruben Santana scored in an unsettled situation to retake the lead with 2:49 to play.
- BU answered that with a nifty goal in transition. After junior Blake Phillips forced a turnover, Meyer picked up the ground ball and got it ahead to Morrison, who raced up the field before dishing the ball to Quadrino for the finish.
- The Terriers had an opportunity to win it on the last possession of regulation but were unable to capitalize.
- Utah won the opening faceoff of overtime, but the BU defense was tremendous and forced a shot clock violation.
- Zion Dechesere (13 saves) stopped Quadrino to get the ball back for Utah, but the Utes were offsides on the clear and BU regained possession, though the Terriers were unable to score before the horn sounded.
- In the second overtime, Utah again won the opening draw, and after a timeout, Wilson ended the game with his second goal of the day.
