Terriers Travel to UConn Friday Night

The Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its 100th season on Friday night when the Terriers face UConn at the XL Center in Hartford. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

This will be the Terriers' second trip to UConn this season, having earned a 2-1 win in Hartford in their season opener on Oct. 8.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU enters Friday on a six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1), the third longest in the country, having most recently swept a weekend series with Arizona State at Agganis Arena.
  • The Terriers have averaged 4.17 goals per game in that stretch while allowing just 1.50 goals per game.
  • Freshman Ty Gallagher is the reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Week after lighting the lamp in each victory over Arizona State to extend his point streak to three games.
  • Junior Jay O'Brien also extended his point streak to three games thanks to a five-point weekend.
  • O'Brien has totaled two goals and five assists over the last three tilts.
  • Sophomore Luke Tuch has tallied four goals over the last three games.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Terriers and Huskies have had 20 prior meetings and BU is 11-7-2 (.600) in them after this October's series.
  • BU has won two out of three against UConn, as the Terriers earned a 3-2 overtime victory on the road last year at Freitas Ice Forum.
  • BU has won six of the last 10 meetings against UConn.
  • The Terriers improved to 2-3-2 in seven overtime contests against UConn after last year's win.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • UConn fell to 9-8-0 overall with a 3-1 loss at AIC on Tuesday.
  • The Huskies did earn a 5-4 road win at Boston College on Saturday to move into a tie for sixth place with the Terriers in the Hockey East standings.
  • Sophomore Ryan Tverberg leads UConn in both goals (9) and points (17) while Jachym Kondelik has provided a team-best 10 assists.
  • Five different Huskies have recorded at least 10 points this season.
  • Graduate student Darion Hanson has started 16 of UConn's 17 games, posting a 9-7-0 record with a 2.62 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
  • He made 43 saves in the Terriers' 2-1 win in Hartford on Oct. 8 before turning aside 29 shots in the Huskies' 5-1 triumph over BU the next night.
