Men's Basketball Set to Host Loyola Maryland Friday Evening

BOSTON – Seeking its sixth win in seven games at Case Gym, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Loyola Maryland on Friday with tip-off slated for 5 p.m.

The Terriers will be playing their third game in a week after earning a 63-61 win vs. Bucknell and dropping an 83-71 decision at Navy. The Greyhounds started Patriot League play with a 77-74 OT loss at Army and then 79-70 victory vs. Holy Cross.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers are looking to start 2-0 at home against the PL for the second time in three seasons following non-conference wins against UMass Lowell, Binghamton, Merrimack and Gordon.
  • Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week and graduate student Sukhmail Mathon (13.9 ppg, 9.9 rpg) has earned a double-double in four of the last six games. 
  • Graduate student Javante McCoy leads BU at 16.8 ppg and is the only Terrier to reach double figures in all 15 contests.
  • BU had at least five men reach double figures for the second time this season at Navy.
  • Only two of BU's losses this year have been decided by more than a point in regulation.
  • The Terriers are averaging 68.9 ppg and 44.3 FG% while holding opponents to 65.2 ppg and 43.7 FG%. 
SCOUTING LOYOLA
  • The Greyhounds are 5-0 at home compared to their 1-5 road record and 1-1 neutral mark. They claimed a 75-70 win at Fairfield and 75-65 win against South Carolina State in Charleston, South Carolina.
  • 6-foot-4 guard Cam Spencer is second in the PL at 18.4 ppg while averaging 4.8 rpg, 4.1 apg and 2.3 spg.
  • 6-foot-4 guard Jaylin Andrews averages 14.4 ppg and has averaged 17.4 ppg over the last five games.
  • 6-foot-10 forward Golden Duke leads the defensive effort at 6.8 rpg.
  • Ranking 22nd nationally in assists at 17.1 apg, the Greyhounds are averaging 69.4 ppg and 43.6 FG% while holding opponents to 68.0 ppg and 42.6 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 13-6, and has won the last four meetings.
  • The two teams last met in 2020 with the Terriers claiming  an 85-53 road win and 92-77 home victory.
  • The Terriers are a perfect 9-0 at home against the Greyhounds.
