BOSTON – Making its first appearance of the season on the CBS Sports Network, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit American on Monday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
Both programs enter the matchup on two-game losing streaks with the Terriers last falling at home to Loyola Maryland, 66-58, on Friday. The Eagles haven't played since a 63-61 home loss to Lehigh on Jan. 1.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- After flushing four 3-pointers against the Greyhounds, graduate student Javante McCoy (16.7 ppg, 49.3 3FG%) just needs two more treys to tie for 10th all-time at BU with 174 total. He also needs 12 points to become the seventh to reach the 1,600-point milestone.
- Senior Walter Whyte (12.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg) became the 40th Terrier to eclipse 1,000 points. Owner of 13 career double-doubles, he's 52 rebounds away from 600 total.
- Graduate student Sukhmail Mathon leads the Patriot League at 9.7 rpg while averaging 14.1 ppg and is just 27 rebounds away from becoming the ninth Terrier to reach 700.
- Following last Tuesday's 83-71 loss at Navy, BU is 3-4 on the road this season with wins at George Washington (56-54), Dartmouth (65-62) and Hartford (75-70).
- BU ranks 56th nationally at 75.2 FT% and 88th in rebound margin (4.2 rpg).
- The Terriers average 68.2 ppg and 43.6 FG% while holding opponents to 65.3 ppg and 44.2 FG%.

- The Eagles had two straight games postponed this past week following a 63-61 conference-opening loss at home to Lehigh. American won the other two home games against Marist (77-73 OT) and St. Francis (Pa.), 83-73.
- AU also earned wins at William & Mary (74-62) and Mount St. Mary's (72-66 OT).
- 6-foot-4 guard Stacy Beckton Jr. leads AU at 13.3 ppg and 1.3 spg, while 6-foot-9 forward Johnny O'Neil owns 10.2 ppg and a team-high 5.2 rpg.
- American is averaging 65.2 ppg and 44.2 FG% while holding opponents to 77.0 ppg and 49.6 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 10-8, after both home teams won in 2020 by an identical four points apiece.
- The Terriers have lost their last three games at Bender Arena, including a 67-63 decision in 2020.
- BU rallied from a 40-22 deficit at home to win the last meeting, 64-60, for the program's largest come-from-behind win since 2009.
