Terriers Welcome Hartford to The Roof Thursday Night

BOSTON – Looking to remain perfect at Case Gym, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Hartford on Thursday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

The Terriers currently own a 2-0 home record following wins over Northeastern (72-63) and Johnson & Wales (96-51). They'll face a UH squad that is 1-2 with an 85-43 win over Northern Vermont-Lyndon and losses to both Sacred Heart (77-70) and Saint Francis Pa. (77-53).

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU will try to open 3-0 at home in back-to-back seasons for the first time since accomplishing the feat during the 1993 and 1994 non-conference schedules.
  • The reigning Patriot League Player of the Week and graduate student Walter Whyte is the lone Terrier averaging double-figure scoring at 19.3 ppg while shooting 63.6 percent from the field.
  • Whyte also leads BU in rebounding at 5.7 rpg, just ahead of senior Nevin Zink (5.3 rpg).
  • Through three games, BU has already had six Terriers score in double figures.
  • Overall, BU is averaging 75.0 ppg and 43.7 FG% while holding opponents to 66.7 ppg and 41.7 FG%.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
  • UH went 12-20 last season with a 9-9 record in its final year in the America East.
  • Through three games, 6-foot-4 guard Briggs McClain leads Hartford in scoring at 18.7 ppg while shooting 50.0 percent from the field.
  • 6-foot-8 forward Pano Pavlidis is second at 12.3 ppg while shooting 57.1 percent from the field and posting a team-high 7.7 rpg.
  • UH is averaging 69.3 ppg and 42.6 FG% while holding opponents to 65.7 ppg and 41.4 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 46-22, that dates back to 1967 and owns a 37-19 all-time conference record when both teams were in the America East. The Terriers left for the Patriot League in the summer of 2013, and the Hawks left this past summer to become a Division I independent.
  • Last season at Chase Arena, BU owned a commanding 41-25 halftime lead and held off a late rally for the 75-70 victory with Whyte tallying 21 points and junior Anthony Morales posting a career-high 18 points off the bench.
  • The Terriers lost the last meeting at home, 77-74, back on Jan. 5, 2013, when UH hit 14 3-pointers and went a perfect 17-of-17 at the charity stripe.
