Men's Basketball to Visit Notre Dame Wednesday Night

BOSTON – Continuing a seven-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit ACC member Notre Dame on Wednesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

The Terriers most recently earned a 68-54 win at NEC preseason favorite Merrimack, while the Fighting Irish are coming off a 62-61 home loss to Syracuse.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is seeking its third win against the ACC under head coach Joe Jones following wins at Boston College in 2011 and at Maryland in 2013. The Terriers last claimed a victory against a Power 5 school at SEC member South Carolina back in 2019.
  • The Terriers are 2-2 on the road this season with wins at New Hampshire and Merrimack alongside losses to current No. 5 UConn and Milwaukee.
  • Graduate student Walter Whyte leads BU in both scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg) while ranking 15th all-time in the program record book at 1,356 points and 11th at 702 rebounds.
  • Classmate Jonas Harper is second at 11.8 ppg and is averaging 18.0 pts. over the last two contests with the help of a team-high 13 3-pointers and 27 free throws.

  • The Irish went 24-11 last season, posting a 14-1 mark at home and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
  • This year, ND owns a notable 70-52 win over then-No. 20 Michigan State and an earlier defeat to St. Bonaventure (63-51) in New York.
  • ND has had the same starting lineup for all eight games with all five men averaging at least 10.6 points a game.
  • Nate Laszewski averages a team-high 15.0 ppg and 8.4 rpg while Trey Wertz averages 4.3 apg alongside 10.6 ppg.
  • ND averages 72.4 ppg and 47.6 FG% while holding opponents to 66.9 ppg and 45.6 FG%.
  • The Irish commit just 8.9 turnovers per game but are only forcing 7.9 per game.
SERIES HISTORY
  • ND leads the all-time series, 3-0, having won all three meetings at home.
  • BU fell in 2008-09 to the then-No. 12 Irish, 74-67, after ND finished on a 10-1 run over the final 2:48.
