Terriers, Raiders to Clash Saturday Afternoon on CBS Sports Network

BOSTON – In a matchup of the last two Patriot League tournament champions, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Colgate on Saturday with the CBS Sports Network broadcast set for 1:30 p.m.

The Terriers enter the matchup having won eight of their last nine games, including a 76-72 decision against Colgate on Jan. 28, while the Raiders are riding an eight-game win streak following the road loss to BU.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  •  BU is seeking its third sweep of the conference schedule after accomplishing the feat against Lehigh and American. 
  • With three games remaining, the Terriers are currently in third place at 10-5, one behind Navy (11-4) and 2.5 behind Colgate (12-2). Lehigh is fourth at 7-8, while both Army and Loyola are in fifth at 7-8.
  • Graduate student Sukhmail Mathon earned his 14th double-double in Wednesday's 78-65 win at Holy Cross and currently leads the PL at 10.2 rpg while also averaging 15.3 ppg. He just needs 26 points to become the 41st Terrier to reach 1,000 career points.
  • Classmate Javante McCoy leads BU at 16.6 ppg and needs 13 more points to become the fifth Terrier to reach 1,800 career points. With 360 career assists, he's also just six assists away from entering the top 10 in the program record book.
  • Over the last nine games, BU averages 76.9 ppg and 48.9 FG% while shooting 39.4 3FG%. The Terriers have held opponents during th.at stretch to 68.1 ppg and 45.5 FG%.
  • The Terriers are 10-5 away from home this season, riding a four-game win streak.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders are 9-1 at home this season, dropping a 70-59 decision to Niagara. They own a 100-85 victory against Syracuse and home-and-away split with Northeastern.
  • Preseason All-PL honoree Nelly Cummings leads at 15.1 ppg, while Tucker Richardson is averaging 12.0 ppg, 5.9 rpg and 3.8 apg.
  • Jack Ferguson (12.0 ppg) and Ryan Moffat (10.6 ppg) also average double figures in points with Keegan Records (6.1 rpg) close behind at 9.9 ppg.
  • Colgate averages 10.0 made 3-pointers per game and is averaging 75.9 ppg while shooting 47.1 FG% after tallying at least 78 points in five of the last seven contests, including 100 in Wednesday's win at Army. The Raiders are holding opponents to 68.6 ppg and 43.0 FG%. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads in the series that dates back to 1933-34 by a slim margin of 30-29 after snapping a four-game home losing streak, 76-72.
  • Mathon posted 22 points and 11 rebounds, while McCoy tallied 17 points and three assists. BU shot 44.8 FG% and held Colgate to 41.9 FG% with a 40-31 advantage in rebounds while posting season-tying nine blocks.
  • The Raiders won all five meetings in 2021, including the PL quarterfinals, to avenge the 2020 PL title game loss to BU at Cotterell Court.

  • BU will return to Case Gym to host Lafayette on Wednesday (Feb. 23) at 7 p.m. in the final home game of the regular season.
  • The Terriers won the previous meeting, 81-62, back on Jan. 26.
