The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue the 2022 season on Saturday when the Terriers welcome No. 19 Bryant to Nickerson Field. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU opened the season with a 12-10 home win over Merrimack on Saturday.
- The Terriers trailed at halftime, 5-3, but they scored the first three goals of the third quarter to take the lead and never trailed again.
- Junior Vince D'Alto paced BU with five points thanks to three goals and two assists while senior Timmy Ley (3g, 1a) and junior Louis Perfetto (2g, 2a) each recorded four points.
- Junior defender Patrick Morrison made the play of the game, forcing a Merrimack turnover and picking up the ensuing ground ball with a minute remaining in regulation to protect a one-goal lead.
- Morrison's classmate, Roy Meyer, led the Terriers with three caused turnovers and added five ground balls.
- Meyer ranks sixth in the nation in caused turnovers per game.
- Senior goalkeeper Matt Garber made 12 saves and also caused two turnovers, including an incredible play to intercept a pass on the 10-man ride.
- Junior Conor Calderone went 15-for-23 at the faceoff X in his Terrier debut.
- BU and Bryant are tied for third in the nation in caused turnovers per game, as both squads forced 13 giveaways in their respective wins on Saturday.
- The Terriers are also the fourth-best clearing team in the country after one week, as they were 22-of-23 in the clearing game on Saturday.
- They'll go up against a Bryant squad that boasts the ninth-best ride in the nation; the Bulldogs held Providence to a 76.9% success rate in the clearing game.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the fifth time in six years that BU and Bryant have met.
- BU is 3-1 all-time against Bryant, including a 2-0 record at Nickerson Field.
- The Terriers fell to the Bulldogs, 15-10, in the teams' last meeting on Feb. 18, 2020, at Bryant.
- Vince D'Alto scored five goals and assisted on another in that contest.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Bryant began its 2022 campaign with a convincing 19-7 win at Providence last weekend.
- Sophomores Bennett Abladian, Aidan Goltz and Isaiah Davis all scored three times, with Goltz adding an assist for a four-point afternoon.
- Senior Marc O'Rourke led the way with five points (2g, 3a).
- Sophomore Jacob Alexander went 20-for-29 at the faceoff X and gathered 15 ground balls.
- Junior goalkeeper Luke Carcciolo, who stopped seven shots against BU in 2020, made 15 saves against the Friars.
- Sophomore Brody Rule led Bryant with two caused turnovers.
UP NEXT
- BU will close out its three-game homestand on Saturday, Feb. 26, when the Terriers host UMass at Nickerson Field.
