BOSTON – Seeking its first sweep during Patriot League play, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Lehigh on Saturday afternoon with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.
The Terriers won the earlier meeting at home, 80-74, back on Jan. 22 and will be facing a squad that is riding high after finishing on a 20-2 run in the final five minutes of Wednesday's 63-62 stunner over Navy.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is looking to bounce back after having its four-game win streak snapped on Monday at home vs. Holy Cross, 75-70.
- The Terriers are scheduled to just play seven games in February after playing 11 total in January, the most to start a new year since 1981.
- BU is 6-5 on the road this season and has won the last road games by double-digits at Loyola Maryland (67-50) and Lafayette (81-62).
- Owner of 12 double-doubles, graduate student Sukhmail Mathon leads the Patriot League at 10.3 rpg while also averaging 15.2 ppg. He is just 90 points away from 1,000 and 36 rebounds away from 800 total.
- Graduate student Javante McCoy (16.6 ppg) ranks fifth all-time at BU with 1,719 points, while senior Walter Whyte (12.7 ppg) is 29th at 1,111 points.
- The Terriers are averaging 69.7 ppg and 44.2 FG% while holding opponents to 65.6 ppg and 44.7 FG%.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
- Lehigh is 8-4 over its last 12 games after starting the season at 1-10 with a 79-72 home win vs. Columbia and 73-70 OT loss at Rutgers.
- The Mountain Hawks are 6-5 at home this season with a 3-1 record in the PL following Wednesday's victory vs. Navy. They earned an 84-71 win vs. Army and had their lone loss against Loyola Maryland, 69-57.
- Evan Taylor leads Lehigh at 14.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg with Jeameril Wilson averaging 11.3 ppg.
- Taylor's scoring average has jumped up to 15.8 ppg in conference play, and Keith Higgins Jr. (9.0 ppg) has stepped up at 13.9 ppg and 3.3 apg.
- Overall, Lehigh is averaging 67.3 ppg and 44.3 FG% while holding opponents to 70.9 ppg and 42.8 FG%. In conference play, the Mountain Hawks have increased the offensive averages to 71.7 ppg and 47.0 FG% with the help of nine made 3-pointers per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers lead the all-time series, 11-8, and will be seeking their first three-game win streak since winning three straight in 2016-17.
- BU won the last meeting at home, 80-74, with Mathon posting 23 points and 14 rebounds. Jeameril Wilson had 18 points to lead Lehigh with the help of four 3-pointers.
