The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue the 2022 season on Saturday when the No. 17/16 Terriers welcome Bucknell to Boston for the second game of a lacrosse doubleheader at Nickerson Field. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the women's lacrosse team hosting Army West Point at 12 p.m.
BU and Bucknell are two of the seven remaining unbeaten squads in the country, having combined for a 9-0 record in 2022.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU began a season 4-0 for just the second time in program history with a convincing 18-6 win at Colgate on March 5.
- This is the Terriers' best start to a season since 2017 when they opened the year 7-0.
- Junior Vince D'Alto, named to the Tewaaraton Watch List on Thursday, leads the Terriers with 22 points and is also tied for the team lead in goals (12) and assists (10).
- D'Alto paced BU with seven points (3g, 4a) against the Raiders, matching his career high with four assists.
- Senior Timmy Ley notched four goals for the second straight game and added two assists for six points.
- He became the sixth Terrier to reach the 100-point milestone and currently has 105 career points (81g, 24a).
- D'Alto (19 games) and junior Louis Perfetto (21 games) each extended their respective point streaks, with Perfetto doing so by distributing a career-best four assists as part of his six-point afternoon.
- Junior LSM Roy Meyer was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second straight week after he once again matched his career high with four caused turnovers and added five ground balls against Colgate.
- Meyer is fourth in the nation and is first in the Patriot League with 3.25 caused turnovers per game.
- BU enters the weekend ranked third in the nation and first in the Patriot League in caused turnovers per game (12.25).
- The Terriers boast the second-best defense in the nation, allowing just 7.55 goals per game.
- BU is also fifth in the nation and first in the Patriot League in opponent clearing percentage (.756).
- Senior goalkeeper Matt Garber, the reigning Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, is currently second in the country and first in the Patriot League with an 7.99 goals-against average.
- He also ranks fifth in the NCAA and first in the conference with a .622 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Bucknell have not met since April 30, 2019 when the Terriers defeated the Bison, 14-8, in a Patriot League quarterfinal matchup at Nickerson.
- The last regular-season contest between the two schools was on March 16, 2019, when BU bested Bucknell, 13-9, in Boston.
- BU has won three straight games against Bucknell to even the all-time series at 4-4, including a 3-1 record against the Bison at Nickerson.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Saturday will be the first Patriot League game of the year for Bucknell, which improved to 5-0 on March 5 with a 17-11 win over Binghamton.
- Freshman Connor Davis (25g, 1a), added to the Tewaaraton Watch List on Thursday, has averaged an NCAA-best 5.0 goals per game, while his 25 total goals is tied for fourth in the country.
- Cam Doolan leads Bucknell with 10 assists while Dutch Furlong (14g, 8a) and Alston Tarry (12g, 8a) have 20 and 22 points, respectively.
- Three Bison - Reid Delanois, Danny Striano and Travis Talarico - lead Bucknell with six caused turnovers apiece.
- Nick Crovatto has won 64.% of his faceoffs this year and leads Bucknell with 43 ground balls.
- Goalkeeper Max Nolan has started all five games for the Bison, posting a 10.48 goals-against average and a .451 save percentage.
