TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU improved to 6-0 and 3-0 in the Patriot League with a 16-10 win over Holy Cross on Saturday in Worcester.
  • This is the Terriers' best start to a season since 2017 when they opened the year 7-0.
  • The Terriers are one of just three Division I men's lacrosse teams to remain unbeaten this season, joining No. 1 Maryland (7-0) and No. 4 Cornell (6-0).
  • Their hot start to the 2022 campaign has landed them back in the national conversation, as BU is now No. 12 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll and No. 13 in the USILA coaches poll.
  • That is the highest BU has ever been ranked in those respective polls.
  • BU is also the top team in New England according to the latest NEILA poll, with Harvard right behind the Terriers in second.
  • The Terriers boast the No. 1 defense in the nation, as the Terriers have allowed just 8.0 goals per game this year.
  • BU is also 11th in the country in scoring offense at 14.5 goals per game.
  • BU has been excellent on the ride this season, as the Terriers have held opponents to a .736 clear percentage, which ranks second in the nation and first in the Patriot League.
  • BU forced nine failed clears at Holy Cross, as the Crusaders went just 19-for-28 (.678) in the clearing game.
  • The Terriers are also first in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (12.33) thanks in large part to junior Roy Meyer, who is third individually with 3.33 CTs per game.
  • Senior goalkeeper Matt Garber ranks first in the nation with an 8.17 goals-against average and is fourth in the NCAA with a .619 save percentage.
  • On offense, junior Vince D'Alto leads BU in both goals (17) and points (30). He is also tied with senior Timmy Ley for the team lead in assists (13).
  • Ley has scored a goal in 28 straight games and dished out a career-best four assists on Saturday at Holy Cross.

SERIES HISTORY

  • BU and Harvard had met every year since the Terriers' first Division I season in 2014, but this will be the first time since 2019 that the two schools have met on the lacrosse field.
  • Each of the last two meetings have gone to overtime, with Harvard winning both.
  • The Crimson earned a 12-11 triple-overtime win at Nickerson in 2019 after defeating the Terriers in overtime, 19-18, at Harvard Stadium in 2018.
  • BU is 2-4 against Harvard, earning a 9-8 road win in 2016 and a 13-8 home win at 2017.
  • Four of the six meetings have been decided by just one goal.
  • Tuesday will be the first time that BU has played at Jordan Field, as the previous three meetings at Harvard were at Harvard Stadium.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON

  • Harvard has won three straight games, including back-to-back wins over a 13th-ranked opponent.
  • The Crimson earned a 14-9 road win over then-unbeaten Michigan before opening Ivy League play with a 12-11 home triumph over Brown.
  • Austin Madronic leads Harvard in goals (14) and points (21) while Sam King is second on the squad with 19 points thanks to a team-high 11 assists.
