The Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue the 2022 season on Saturday when the Terriers trek to Colgate for their Patriot League opener against the Raiders. Opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU began a season 3-0 for the third time in program history with a 16-7 win over UMass on Feb. 26 at Nickerson Field
- Senior Timmy Ley matched his career high with seven points thanks to four goals and a career-best three assists.
- He is one point away from becoming the sixth Terrier to reach the 100-point milestone.
- Junior Vince D'Alto tallied three goals and three assists while senior Jake Cates (2g), junior Louis Perfetto (2a) and sophomore Christian Quadrino (2g) all had multi-point efforts against the Minutemen.
- D'Alto (18 games) and Perfetto (20 games) each extended their respective point streaks.
- Junior LSM Roy Meyer was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after he matched his career high with four caused turnovers and added three ground balls against UMass.
- Meyer is tied for second in the nation and is first in the Patriot League with 3.50 caused turnovers per game.
- BU enters the weekend ranked third in the nation and first in the Patriot League in caused turnovers per game (12.33).
- The Terriers boast the fourth-best defense in the nation, allowing just 8.33 goals per game.
- BU is also seventh in the nation and first in the Patriot League in opponent clearing percentage (.750).
- Senior goalkeeper Matt Garber is currently sixth in the country and first in the Patriot League with an 8.47 goals-against average.
- He also ranks eighth in the NCAA and first in the conference with a .590 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the 11th all-time meeting between BU and Colgate.
- The Terriers are 6-4 all-time against the Raiders, including 2-1 last season.
- Colgate won the last meeting, an 11-8 Patriot League quarterfinal victory at Nickerson Field on May 4, 2021.
- The Terriers won both regular-season contests against the Raiders last year, including a 14-10 win in Hamilton on April 10.
- BU is 4-1 in five games at Colgate, averaging 15.75 goals per game in those four triumphs.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
- Colgate hasn't played since Feb. 19, an 11-8 home win over Air Force.
- That was the Raiders' first victory of the season, as they began the year with an 11-10 overtime loss at High Point and a 15-9 defeat at North Carolina.
- Brian Minicus leads Colgate in goals (8), assists (7) and points (15).
- He notched eight of those 15 points, two goals and six assists, in the win over Air Force.
- Rory Connor is second on the squad with six goals, half of which came against Air Force.
- Thomas Colucci is the primary faceoff taker for the Raiders, going 41-of-66 (.621) and collecting a team-high 24 ground balls.
- Aidan Murnane leads Colgate with four caused turnovers.
- Matt LaCombe has started all three games for the Raiders, posting a .553 save percentage and an 11.22 goals-against average.
