
No. 14 Terriers Defeated at Maine, 8-1

ORONO, Maine - Junior Wilmer Skoog scored his second lacrosse goal of the season, but the No. 14 Boston University men's ice hockey team fell to Maine, 8-1, on Saturday night at Alfond Arena.
BU closed its 100th regular season with a 19-12-3 record and a 13-8-3 mark in Hockey East. The Terriers finished fifth and will travel to fourth-seeded UConn for a Hockey East quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, March 12, at XL Center in Hartford. Game time is TBD.
Skoog's team-leading 15th goal of the season was another highlight-reel moment for the sensational Swede. He's now scored a goal in each of the last four games. Junior Robert Mastrosimone and sophomore Nick Zabaneh assisted on Skoog's strike.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maine used three goals in a span of 1:07 to take a 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.
- The Black Bears then scored twice more in the second stanza before Skoog got BU on the board.
- Mastrosimone was robbed of a power-play goal with 17:11 left in the third. The referees blew the play dead despite the puck appearing to cross the line. After review, the call on the ice stood and the score remained 6-1.
- Maine scored twice more in the third period to close the contest.
- Skoog finished the weekend with three goals and one assist for four points.
- He has notched five goals and one assist over the last four games and has secured a point in 11 of the Terriers' last 12 contests.
- Skoog (15g, 15a) is now tied with junior Domenick Fensore (4g, 26a) for the team lead with 30 points.
- Mastrosimone notched his 13th assist of the season while Zabaneh recorded his ninth helper of the campaign.
- Sophomore Drew Commesso started and made 10 saves while classmate Vinny Duplessis stopped 20 shots in relief.
