Softball to Visit Colgate in PL Weekend Series

BOSTON – Looking to maintain its spot atop the Patriot League standings, the Boston University softball team will visit Colgate over the weekend for a critical three-game series. Both Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single contest will begin at 12 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Terriers are currently first at 9-0 after sweeping Holy Cross and still have to face the three teams sitting right behind them in the standings. Lehigh is currently in second at 8-1 with both Colgate and Army West Point tied-for-third at 7-2.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU tied Arizona State for the nation's longest active win streak at 20 games following Wednesday's thrilling 3-2 11-inning win over Boston College. The Terriers enter this weekend's series tied-for-first nationally at 11 straight road victories as well.
  • After batting 3-for-5 against the Eagles, sophomore Kayla Roncin is currently batting .441 with 64 hits, two shy of cracking the top 10 in the program record book. She also owns 28 RBIs and a team-high 42 runs scored.
  • Junior and reigning PL Player of the Week Caitlin Coker (.345) has been on a tear recently, batting 12-for-19 (.632) with four hits in Wednesday's win against Boston College.
  • Senior Emily Gant ranks second at .381 with 33 RBIs, while classmate Nicole Amodio (.301) leads BU at six homers and 38 RBIs.
  • In the circle, junior Allison Boaz (17-4, 1.33 ERA) is tied with fellow junior Lizzy Avery (14-8, 2.33 ERA) for five solo shutouts apiece. Avery tallied nine strikeouts in five innings of relief vs. BC.
  • BU is batting .305 and is holding opponents to .228 with a 97-64 advantage in extra-base hits.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders have won their last four games with a sweep at Bucknell and win against Lafayette. Their two conference losses were against the Leopards and Holy Cross.
  • Freshman Jillian Herbst is batting a team-high .393 with 13 extra-base hits, 16 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
  • Steph Jacoby (.262) leads Colgate with four homers and 21 RBIs, while Taylor Ludwick (.243) owns 22 runs scored alongsdie her four homers.
  • Bailey Misken (29-20, 2.74 ERA) owns 93 strikeouts in 110.0 innings, while Kaitlyn Borruso (7-2, 2.92 ERA) has tallied 36 strikeouts in 52.2 innings.
  • Overall, Colgate is batting .247 with a 79-56 advantage in extra-base hits despite opponents hitting a better .261. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 22-1 all-time in the series with an 8-1 road record. 
  • The Terriers are visiting Hamilton, New York, for the first time since 2018. They won all four home meetings in both 2019 and 2021, though three of the contests were decided by one run apiece.
  • The Raiders won their lone meeting in 2016 with a solo homer against Melanie Russell ('16), who tallied 15 strikeouts in just six innings of work.
