BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After claiming its fourth straight Patriot League regular season title along with a record-breaking 27-game win streak and highlight victories over two currently nationally-ranked programs, the Boston University softball team earned three major year-end awards and nine total All-Conference honors, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Currently No. 2 in the NCAA at 78 hits and ninth overall with a .443 batting average, shortstop
Kayla Roncin received the Terriers' fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Junior
Allison Boaz (20-4, 1.40 ERA) claimed the program's fourth straight Pitcher of the Year award by finishing the regular season ranked in the top 25 nationally for ERA, wins and shutouts (7), while seventh-year head coach
Ashley Waters repeated as Coach of the Year with her third overall year-end honor from the PL.

The major award recipients will all be recognized prior to the first pitch of Thursday's Patriot League tournament opener against Colgate. The start time is slated for 12 p.m. at the BU Softball Field.
Team and Coach Waters' Highlights
- The Terriers are 38-15 overall with a 16-2 conference mark for the fourth most wins in program history
- BU recorded 27 straight wins from March 12 - May 7 to shatter both the PL record and BU record of 18 straight victories set last season (and in 2001 by BU as a member of the America East)
- The Terriers also won 25 straight home games and defeated 33 PL squads dating back to last season
- BU won a fourth straight conference regular season title for the first time in program history after previously winning three straight from 2001-03 and 2010-12
- The Terriers watched four players earn at least one Player of the Week award for the first time since 2007 and had two players combine for seven Pitcher of the Week accolades
- The Terriers won at then-No. 13 Georgia (6-1) for its first win over a ranked team since beating No. 1 Oklahoma in 2018
- Besides beating D1Softball's current Top-25 Georgia and Mountain West Conference regular season champion San Diego State, the Terriers defeated Big East regular season champion UConn, CAA regular season champion Delaware and current Big West leaders Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State
- BU finished 13-0 against New England schools with notable wins over Boston College, UConn, UMass and Harvard (2x)
- BU ranks in the top 50 in the following 10 NCAA team categories: triples per game (6th), shutouts (18th), doubles (18th), earned run average (20th), batting average (27th), fielding percentage (33rd), win-loss percentage (35th), strikeout-to-walk ratio (41st), scoring (45th) and on-base percentage (48th)
2022 Player of the Year
Kayla Roncin (So., SS, Toms River, N.J.) – All-PL First Team
.443 avg., .490 ob%, .636 slg%, 78 H, 35 RBI, 49 R, 12 2B, 5 3B, 4 HR, 8 SB
- Ranks second nationally with the second most hits in program history and fourth in PL history at 78 total while ranking ninth in the NCAA with a .443 batting average
- Increased batting average to .492 with a .522 on-base percentage in conference play to help score a PL-leading 49 runs, tied-for-fifth most ever at BU
- Earned three PL Player of the Week awards and had multiple hits in road wins at Georgia, San Diego State, UConn, Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton
- Second consecutive BU sophomore to earn Player of the Year honors made more impressive by the fact she only had 41 at-bats last season due to a season-ending injury
- Also played shortstop for the first time collegiately this season, tabulating 102 assists and 75 putouts while helping turn 10 double plays
2022 Pitcher of the Year
Allison Boaz (Jr., P, San Diego, Calif.) – All-PL First Team
20-4, 2 SV, 1.40 ERA, 35 APP/23 GS, 13 CG, 7/1 SHO, 164.2 IP, 142 H, 45 R, 33 ER, 108 K, 35 BB, .225 opp. BA
- Ranks 17th nationally in ERA, 22nd in victories and 22nd in shutouts
- Went 8-0 in PL play with 0.76 ERA and .166 opposing batting average
- Pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in win at No. 13 Georgia, while also collecting CG wins at San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton and LBSU
- Earned four PL Pitcher of the Week awards and posted an eight-inning shutout at Army
- Showed off her defensive prowess with 63 assists from the circle
Emily Gant (Sr., OF, Grove City, Ohio) – All-PL First Team
.400 avg., .441 ob%, .646 slg%, 52 H, 40 R, 45 RBI, 10 BB, 4 SB, 6 2B, 4 3B, 6 HR
- Ranks 62nd nationally in batting average and 79th in RBIs per game (0.92) with a PL-high 45 RBIs alongside Amodio that are tied-for-fifth most in program history
- The three-time All-PL First Team and two-time All-Region honoree became the first Terrier since 2003 and fourth overall to earn both a Player and Pitcher of the Week award from a conference during a career
- Went 2-for-2 with three runs at Cal State Fullerton and later 3-for-4 at Colgate with seven RBIs thanks to a grand slam
Nicole Amodio (Sr., 1B, Phoenix, Ariz.) – All-PL First Team
.302 avg., .435 ob%, .525 slg%, 42 H, 22 R, 45 RBI, 21 BB, 14 HBP, 3 SB, 7 2B, 8 HR
- Ranked second in the PL with eight homers and tied for first with Gant at a PL-high 45 RBIs for her third career All-PL First Team award
- The two-time team captain homered against Georgia, Notre Dame and Clemson
- Posted nine multi-hit and 15 multi-RBI performances while earning a .990 fielding percentage
Caitlin Coker (Jr., 3B, Downingtown, Pa.) – All-PL First Team
.330 avg., .407 ob%, .559 slg%, 59 H, 23 RBI, 44 R, 15 2B, 4 3B, 6 HR
- Earned second All-PL First Team award after posting PL-high 15 doubles (t-3rd most at BU) and earning two PL Player of the Week honors
- Ranks 93rd nationally with 59 hits and 98th with 100 total bases
- Collected 18 multi-hit games with four hits against Boston College and Colgate while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage at third base
Jen Horita (Gr., OF, San Mateo, Calif.) – All-PL Second Team
.333 avg., .376 ob%, .527 slg%, 60 H, 41 R, 31 RBI, 13 BB, 10 SB, 8 2B, 3 3B
- Earned her third All-PL award and second All-PL Second Team honor
- Earned PL Player of the Week honors on Feb. 22 and finished regular season ranked 72nd with 60 hits
- Tallied 18 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI performances with season-high four RBIs vs. Holy Cross
Lauren Keleher (So., OF, Abington, Mass.) – All-PL Second Team
.345 avg., .458 ob%, .507 slg%, 49 H, 34 R, 25 RBI, 14 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR
- The 2021 PL Rookie of the Year earned her second All-PL award after posting a PL-high 32 walks that are the most by a Terrier since 2011 along with the third most doubles (14)
- Posted 15 multi-hit games and four multi-RBI performances with a personal-best six RBIs at Lafayette
- Earned a perfect fielding percentage with nine assists in the outfield
Lizzy Avery (Jr., P, Alameda, Calif.) – All-PL Second Team

- Collected one-hitters against UMass, Lafayette and Colgate along with a nine-inning win at Army
Audrey Sellers (Jr., C, La Verne, Calif.) – All-PL Second Team

- Earned her first career All-PL award after throwing out six runners attempting to seal and posting 21 assists
- Collected two RBIs against San Diego State and Colgate
- Tallied two hits apiece against Colgate and Bucknell
