
Seven Terriers to Skate in 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs

BOSTON - Seven former Boston University men's ice hockey standouts will compete in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, with the first round to begin on Monday night.
Three Terriers - Charlie Coyle, Matt Grzelcyk and Charlie McAvoy - will skate for the hometown Boston Bruins in their first-round series with the Carolina Hurricanes that begins Monday in Raleigh. McAvoy led all Boston defensemen with 10 goals and 56 points, and was second on the entire squad with 46 assists, en route to winning the team's Eddie Shore Award for demonstrating exceptional hustle and determination throughout the season. Coyle finished the year with 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points in all 82 games while Grzelcyk recorded a career-best 24 points thanks to four goals and a career-high 20 assists.
Evan Rodrigues of the Pittsburgh Penguins will begin his quest for the Cup on Tuesday against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Rodrigues had a breakout season for the Penguins, scoring 19 goals and adding 24 assists for 43 points, all of which are career highs.
In the Western Conference, Jordan Greenway and the Minnesota Wild will open the postseason on Monday when they host the St. Louis Blues. Greenway tallied 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points and was a plus-26.
Jake Oettinger will look to backstop the Dallas Stars to their second Cup Final in three seasons, with Dallas to open the first round on Tuesday at Calgary. Oettinger started 46 games this season, going 30-15-0 with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. His 2.53 GAA ranked second in the Western Conference.
Dante Fabbro and the Nashville Predators will begin the playoffs on Tuesday at Colorado. Fabbro collected a career-high 21 assists and was a career-best plus-13 this season.
In addition, both Terrier NHL head coaches led their teams to a postseason berth, as Mike Sullivan will seek his third Stanley Cup with the Penguins and John Hynes will make his third straight playoff appearance behind the Nashville bench.
