BOSTON - The Boston University men's ice hockey team will welcome six freshmen to the program for the 2022-23 season, head coach Jay Pandolfo announced on Tuesday.
Four forwards (Ryan Greene, Quinn Hutson, Devin Kaplan, Jeremy Wilmer) and two defensemen (Lachlan Getz, Lane Hutson) comprise the Class of 2026. In addition, the Terriers have added graduate student Patrick Schena to this year's roster. Schena served as a practice goaltender for the Terriers last season.
Six of the seven total newcomers hail from the United States, with Lane Hutson and Kaplan coming from the U.S. National Team Development Program. Those two players, along with Greene, were selected in this summer's NHL Draft, with all three being taken within the top 70.
"I'm really excited about our incoming class, Pandolfo said. "We have six freshmen and I think all of them are ready to contribute to the team right away. Obviously we're going to have to see them in practice, but based off of where they're coming from and what I know of them, I think they're going to make an impact right away which will be huge for our team."
Lachlan Getz
D • 6-3 • 190 • Northfield, Ill. • Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL)
Skated for the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL during the 2021-22 season … Scored three goals and added 19 assists for 22 points … Tallied four points during the 2021-22 playoffs … Scored two goals, including game-winner, in deciding game seven to help Chilliwack advance to second round of playoffs … Also skated for The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, totaling 12 goals and 48 assists for 60 points over his final two seasons … Captained Lawrencevile during his senior season and was named the New Jersey Trentonian Player of the Year.
Pandolfo on Getz: "Lachlan was a late add to our recruiting class. He's a big, strong kid who skates really well and is going to play hard. You're going to know you're out there against him. That's something we want our team identity to be - hard to play against - and I think he's going to fill that role nicely, especially on the back end.
Ryan Greene
F • 6-1 • 180 • Paradise, N.L. • Green Bay Gamblers (USHL)
Selected in the second round (57th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Draft … Played three seasons for the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL … Led the Gamblers with 51 points thanks to 19 goals and a team-best 32 assists last season … Scored 12 goals and added 20 assists for 32 points in 2020-21.
Pandolfo on Greene: Ryan is a 200-foot center who is very good defensively but has a lot of offensive upside as well. I think he's going to fit in very well. He's going to have some older centers to learn from, so I think that's going to be huge for him.
Lane Hutson

Selected in the second round (62nd overall) by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Draft … Played for the U.S. National Team Development Program Under-18 Team … Received the E.J. Pandolfo on L. Hutson: Lane is an elite offensive talent who has off-the-charts hockey sense. Right from day one he's going to be fighting to play on the power play. He excels there, so I want to make sure he's in spots where he's going to succeed right away. I think the thing that separates him from a lot of players is that his brain works a lot quicker than anyone else's.

Devin Kaplan

Pandolfo on Kaplan: Devin is a big power forward who can not only get to the net but has nice touch around the net. He's also a very good 200-foot player who did a lot of penalty killing for the U.S. national team. We're looking forward to adding his size and strength to our lineup.

Pandofo on Willmer: Jeremy is an elite passer who makes anyone he plays with better. He's excellent on the power play and I think he's going to fight for a spot there right away.
