No. 7 BU Begins Five-Game Homestand Wednesday Night Against No. 19/17 UMass

The No. 7 Boston University men's ice hockey team will begin a five-game homestand on Wednesday night when the Terriers host No. 19/17 UMass at Agganis Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • This will be the Terriers' first game at Agganis since a 3-0 win over New Hampshire on Dec. 3.
  • BU most recently split a pair of games at the Desert Hockey Classic hosted by Arizona State on Jan. 6-7.
  • The Terriers defeated Air Force, 5-1, before falling to No. 16 Michigan Tech, 3-2.
  • Freshman Jeremy Wilmer led Hockey East last weekend with four points on a league-best four assists.
  • All four helpers were the primary assist on a BU goal, including a career-high three assists in the win over Air Force.
  • Senior Wilmer Skoog scored twice in the victory over the Falcons while freshman Devin Kaplan closed the weekend with one goal and two assists.
  • Senior Matt Brown leads BU in goals (9), assists (16) and points (25); he found the back of the net against Michigan Tech.
  • Freshman Lane Hutson rejoined the Terriers in Arizona immediately after winning bronze at the World Junior Championship.
  • Hutson, who provided the primary assist on the overtime-winning goal that clinched bronze, tallied an assist in each game in Arizona.
  • He leads all Hockey East defensemen in goals (7) and points (20) and is first among all league rookies in assists (13) and points.
  • The Terriers have gone 13-for-13 on the penalty kill over its last four games dating back to the Dec. 11 win at UConn.
  • BU has allowed just two power-play goals at home all season.
  • The Terriers average 3.79 goals per game, which is tops in Hockey East and fifth-most in the NCAA.
  • BU also averages 36.1 shots on goal per game, which ranks second in the country and first in Hockey East.

HISTORY WITH UMASS

  • The Terriers are 69-14-8 all-time against UMass in a series that began on Jan. 16, 1920.
  • BU earned its first win in program history against UMass, which was known then as Massachusetts Agricultural College, on Jan. 11, 1923, at Boston Arena.
  • The Terriers have gone 6-0-1 over the last seven games against UMass, including a weekend sweep of the Minutemen in November.
  • BU bested UMass, 7-2, in the first game in Amherst before defeating the Minutemen, 5-1, at Agganis the next night.
  • The Terriers are 19-3-4 against UMass at Agganis Arena.

SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN

  • After starting the season 5-1-1, UMass is just 4-7-2 in its last 13 games.
  • UMass most recently suffered a 4-2 loss to Boston College at Fenway Park on Saturday.
  • Freshman Kenny Connors leads the Minutemen in points (18) and is tied with sophomore Taylor Makar for the team lead in goals with seven.
  • Sophomore Scott Morrow leads UMass with 12 assists and is second in points with 17.
  • Sophomore Luke Pavicich has started in 15 of his 16 appearances, posting a 2.35 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
  • He started his team's 7-2 loss to BU on Nov. 11, allowing five goals in 32:50.
