BOSTON – Coming off a two-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball returns to Case Gym to host Army West Point on Saturday with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for free pizza as part of Youth Day. Three of the next four games will take place at The Roof, including matchups with Loyola Maryland (Jan. 21) and Colgate (Jan. 23).
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 5-1 at home after most recently overcoming a late 10-point deficit to defeat Lafayette in overtime, 73-69. The lone loss was a 75-58 decision to Navy.
- Graduate student Jonas Harper posted a career-high 23 points in Wednesday's six-point loss at two-time defending PL champion Colgate (77-71) and just 22 away from becoming the 42nd Terrier to reach 1,000.
- Classmate Walter Whyte posted an identical 23 points last Sunday at American and just needs 16 points to reach 1,500. He leads BU in both scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg).
- Harper, Whyte and senior Ethan Brittain-Watts have between 26-28 made 3-pointers with Brittain-Watts shooting a team-high 39.4 percent from behind the arc.
- Overall, the Terriers are averaging 69.2 ppg and 41.1 FG% while holding opponents to 68.0 ppg and 42.0 FG%.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
- The Black Knights are one of the hotter teams in the league, winning five of the last six games opening with the lone loss coming against Colgate, 77-75.
- Six of Army's games have been decided by five points or less, including a 63-62 victory over NJIT, 80-78 win against Lehigh and 72-71 loss to Manhattan.
- Jalen Rucker owns a team-high 16.0 ppg and 3.5 apg with Coleton Benson, Chriss Mann and Ethan Roberts all averaging between 11.2 and 11.8 ppg.
- Charlie Peterson is close behind in scoring with a team-high 5.6 rpg.
- Overall, Army is averaging 75.9 ppg and 49.3 FG% while holding opponents to 70.5 ppg and 44.2 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 21-15, that dates back to 1955.
- The home team won both games last season with the Terriers pulling out a 75-74 victory to avenge an earlier 73-63 defeat.
- Whyte is the top returning scorer from the home contest in which he tallied 21 points with the help of a personal-best five 3-pointers. Sukhmail Mathon ('22) scored the go-ahead layup and fre throw with 1.3 seconds remaining in regulation.
