Sydney Johnson scored a game-high 14 points, junior
Caitlin Weimar notched 12 points and four blocks, and the Boston University women's basketball team won its sixth-consecutive game with a 68-52 triumph over Army West Point on Sunday afternoon at Christl Arena.
Leading by 13 at halftime, BU (11-6, 6-0 PL) saw its advantage cut to as low as two points in the third quarter. However, the Terriers shot over 63 percent in the fourth and outscored the Black Knights (4-12, 2-4 PL) 18-10 in the stanza. With the victory, BU has matched its program record with six-straight wins to start Patriot League action.
Johnson filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, three assists, and three steals as well. Weimar also posted seven rebounds. Sophomores
Alex Giannaros and
Lauren Davenport each tallied 11 points, the latter collecting six rebounds.
Kamryn Hall notched a team-best 13 points for Army. Sabria Hunter ended the game with a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A trio of three-point plays in the first five minutes from the Black Knights staked the home team to an 11-7 lead at the midpoint of the first.
- Hunter made two free throws to give Army its largest lead of the game, 16-9, with 3:21 to go in the first.
- BU would keep Army off the scoreboard the rest of the frame, however. Weimar scored the Terriers' next six points, while freshman Sam Crispe banked a layup near the left block to put BU ahead with 53 seconds left.
- In total, the Terriers scored 12 straight points, as Davenport's three 28 seconds into the second gave the visitors a 21-16 edge.
- BU's run extended out to 20-4. Johnson collected an offensive rebound at the second quarter's 4:35 mark and put it in for a 29-20 Terrier advantage.
- Davenport had a hand in BU's final three buckets of the second, making two jumpers while assisting on a Giannaros reverse layup. The Terriers headed into the locker room up 37-24.
- BU missed eight of its first nine shots to open the second half, allowing the Black Knights to score 10 points in a row. Hunter's basket with 5:06 on the clock cut the gap to 39-36.
- Johnson nailed a foul line-extended jumper with 3:53 remaining in the third, but three Reese Ericson foul shots on Army's next possession made it 41-39 in BU's favor.
- The Terriers capped the frame on a 9-2 run. Johnson accounted for five points on a right-wing three and a contested layup with under two seconds on the clock.
- Giannaros capitalized on an Army traveling call and drove down the baseline for a floater to put BU ahead 56-44 with 6:26 to play in the fourth.
- Hall hit a bucket by the free throw line to cut the Terrier lead to 58-49 halfway through the period, but BU ripped off eight-consecutive points to expand its lead. Senior Maggie Pina drilled a left-wing three, while Crispe and Johnson sank jumpers to make it 66-49 with 2:34 to play.

- For the third-straight game, BU set a season-high in field goal percentage, hitting 52.7 percent of its shots. The Terriers shot 60 and 63.6 percent in the second and fourth quarters, respectively.
- Army West Point shot .297 from the field and was 7-for-28 from three-point range.
- BU won the rebounding advantage, 38-29. Thirty-one of those Terrier rebounds were on the defensive glass.
- The Terriers sported a 42-12 edge in points in the paint.
- Weimar and Davenport accounted for all 23 of BU's bench points.
- BU tied its season-best with nine blocks.

- BU has started Patriot League play 6-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 10 years as a league member.
- The last time the Terriers started 6-0 in conference play in consecutive years was the 2011-12 and 2012-13 campaigns.
- Johnson scored 10 points in the second half, and is now averaging 12.5 points per game during Patriot League play. She has 10 or more points in 32 of her last 35 games against league foes.
- Weimar has collected 10-plus points in 11 of her 13 appearances this season. Her four blocks match a season-high, previously set against Hartford on Nov. 19.
- Davenport is averaging 10.3 points per game in her last three contests. Her .833 shooting percentage against the Black Knights is a career-best (min. five baskets made).
- All five of Giannaros' field goals were inside the arc, marking a season-high.
- With two blocks, senior Maren Durant vaults into third place on BU's all-time blocks list with 148 in her career. She passes Rashidat Agboola '14.
- BU is 9-2 this season when scoring 65 or more points.
- The Terriers have now won six in a row against the Black Knights, improving to 16-10 all-time in the series.
