Men's Basketball Falls at Navy, 63-45

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Boston University men's basketball team fell in the rematch with Navy, 63-45, at Alumni Hall on Wednesday night.

The Midshipmen (9-10, 2-5 PL) shot 50 percent in the second half and forced the Terriers (9-11, 2-5 PL) into a season-high 23 turnovers to claim the regular season sweep.

BU's top two scorers came off the bench with junior Daman Tate posting a team-high nine points and sophomore Malcolm Chimezie tallying eight points. Chimezie also hauled in a team-high six rebounds alongside graduate student Fletcher Tynen. Classmate Jonas Harper added seven points to become the 42nd Terrier in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.

Sean Yoder led Navy with 14 points, while Daniel Deaver came up two rebounds short of a double-double at 13 points alongside four assists. Navy finished at 43.4 percent shooting from the field and limited BU to 37.8 FG% with an 8-3 advantage in made 3-pointers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The teams traded blows with six lead changes through the first nine minutes.
  • After Tate hit a jumper for a 10-9 advantage, Yoder converted on a BU turnover with a 3-pointer at 11:30 to give Navy the lead for good.
  • Patrick Dorsey extended Navy's lead to double-digits for the first time, 29-18, with 2:35 left in the half.
  • Facing a 41-28 deficit with 11:10 remaining in regulation, senior Ethan Brittain-Watts drained a 3-pointer to spark a 7-1 spurt that was followed by Chimezie's layup and then junior Caelan Jones' layup at 9:52.
  • BU had a chance to cut Navy's lead even further, but the Midshipmen followed a defensive stop with Dorsey's 3-pointer.
  • Dorsey added his third trey at 4:02 for the Midshipmen's largest lead of the game, 58-40.

  • BU's 23 turnovers were the most since the Terriers committed 23 at Loyola Maryland in January 2019.
