Caitlin Weimar recorded her seventh double-double of the year with 18 points and 16 rebounds, senior
Sydney Johnson collected 15 points, and the Boston University women's basketball program pulled away from Bucknell in a 68-47 victory on Monday afternoon at Case Gym.
BU (7-6, 2-0 PL) trailed for only 31 seconds in the game, shooting 17-for-18 from the free throw line and garnering a 42-25 advantage on the glass over the Bison (4-9, 0-2 PL). The Terriers outscored the visitors 19-6 in the fourth quarter for their fifth win by 20 or more points this season.
In addition to her double-double, Weimar led all players with three blocks, and shot 66.7 percent from the field. Senior
Maren Durant posted nine rebounds, while sophomore
Alex Giannaros dished out five assists for the second-consecutive contest.
Cecelia Collins and Emma Theodorsson each posted 10 points to pace Bucknell, with Collins taking 14 shots. Emma Shaffer scooped up 14 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bucknell scored the opening basket 1:25 into the game, but were held off the scoreboard for over four-and-a-half minutes as BU's three consecutive makes put the home team ahead 6-2.
- Recently checking into the game, sophomore Lauren Davenport drove down the right lane to sink a floater while drawing contact. Her three-point play put BU on top, 9-3, with 3:41 left in the first.
- The Terriers led 15-7 following freshman Sam Crispe's straightaway three at the 8:49 mark of the second, but the Bison tied it on threes from Remi Sisselman and Isabella King as well as a Collins jumper.
- A 9-2 Terrier run featured four foul shots from Johnson and an and-one bucket from Weimar to return BU's edge to 24-17 with 3:16 until halftime.
- Tai Johnson connected on a jumper to pull Bucknell within six with under five seconds left, but Johnson lasered in a buzzer beater from halfcourt to make it 31-22 Terriers heading into the locker room.
- Senior Maggie Pina floated in the first bucket of the third quarter, but a 7-0 Bison spurt trimmed BU's edge to 33-29. The Terriers answered with a left-handed layup from Pina and a left-wing triple via Johnson.
- Beginning with another three-point play from Davenport at the 3:12 mark, both sides combined for five baskets in a 2:31 span. Theodorsson's three following a Terrier turnover once again cut it to a four-point BU lead at 43-39.
- Junior Sophie Beneventine saved a ball from going out of bounds by the BU bench and found Durant underneath for a contested layup with 52 seconds left. Johnson then nailed a pull-up jumper to make it 49-41 Terriers heading to the fourth.
- Weimar scored BU's first five points in the last stanza, including an and-one play at the 6:19 mark where fended off multiple Bison defenders by the right block.
- Crispe and Weimar each hit two free throws, then Weimar's second-chance putback extended a BU run to 11 straight points, making it 60-43 with 4:31 to play.
- Senior Annabelle Larnard and freshman Anastasiia Semenova closed out the game with threes from each wing.

- The Terriers shot 46 percent in the game, including 5-for-11 from distance (45.5 percent).
- In the second and third quarters, BU drilled 14 of its 23 shots (60.8 percent).
- Bucknell was 19-for-55 from the field, good for 34.5 percent.
- Defensive rebounds favored the Terriers, 32-17.
- BU's bench accounted for 21 points, led by Crispe's nine.
- The Terriers racked up 16 assists on 23 made baskets.

GAME NOTES
- Weimar has seven double-doubles in nine games this season for the Terriers, who have won three in a row when she accomplishes that feat. She is one of four Patriot League student-athletes to average a double-double on the season.
- Johnson moves up to 990 career points. She has scored in double figures in 29 of her last 31 Patriot League contests, and 53 overall.
- With her nine caroms, Durant moves into a tie with Andrea Ashuck '89 for 10th place in program history with 681 career rebounds.
- The Terriers have won six of their last seven games when eclipsing 40 rebounds. Monday's plus-17 margin was the second-largest of the year, trailing the plus-20 outing against Hartford.
- BU has won 24 of its last 29 Patriot League games at home, postseason included. The Terriers have won five consecutive Patriot League home openers, dating back to the 2018-19 campaign.
- Though Bucknell remains ahead in the all-time series, 11-6, BU has won three in a row and four of the last five meetings.
- Monday's 21-point margin of victory over the Bison was the most for the Terriers in the rivalry since the first matchup, an 86-58 triumph on Jan. 25, 2014.
