Men's Basketball to Open Two-Game Homestand with Loyola Maryland Saturday Afternoon

BOSTON – Hosting two games in three days, the Boston University men's basketball team will first welcome Loyola Maryland to Case Gym on Saturday with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.

The Terriers and Greyhounds will battle for the first time since BU eliminated Loyola in the 2022 Patriot League quarterfinals, 76-64. BU will then have a quick turnaround and face Colgate on Monday at 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 5-3 at home this season with a 1-2 record in conference play, including 73-69 OT win over Lafayette and losses to Army West Point (83-74) and Navy (75-58).
  • On Wednesday, graduate student Jonas Harper (10.2 ppg) became the 42nd Terrier in program history to reach 1,000 points. He leads BU with 31 3-pointers and ranks tied-for-seventh all-time in the program record book at 196 career treys.
  • Classmate Walter Whyte owns a team-high 14.2 ppg and 5.8 rpg with senior Nevin Zink (5.8 ppg) second in rebounding at 5.0 rpg. In PL play, sophomore Malcolm Chimezie leads BU at the glass with 5.9 rpg.
  • Overall, 11 Terriers have scored in double figures this season with senior Ethan Brittain-Watts (9.6 ppg) accomplishing the feat eight times over the last 12 contests after hitting the mark four combined times over his first three years.
  • BU is averaging 68.3 ppg and 41.5 FG% while holding opponents to 68.5 ppg and 42.8 FG%.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
  • The Greyhounds most recently had a split at home with a 69-67 win vs. Navy last Saturday and 74-70 loss to Lehigh on Monday.
  • Loyola owns road wins at Bucknell (67-57) and Binghamton (84-70) with PL losses at American (71-55) and Holy Cross (63-55).
  • Kenneth Jones leads the Greyhounds at 11.4 ppg, 3.1 apg and 1.9 spg, while Jaylin Andrews owns 10.7 ppg.
  • On the defensive front, Golden Dike has a team-high 6.4 rpg with 6.3 ppg and has combined with Alonso Faure (8.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg) for 23 blocks.
  • Loyola is averaging 65.4 ppg and 44.8 FG% while holding opponents to 69.7 ppg and 48.2 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 15-7, with a 10-1 home mark.
  • The Terriers have won six of the last seven meetings, including the 76-64 PL quarterfinal decision and a 67-50 road victory after the Greyhounds prevailed at Case Gym in Jan. 2022, 66-58.
