No. 1/2 Terriers Defeated by U.S. National Under-18 Team

BOSTON - The No. 1/2 Boston University men's ice hockey team fell to the U.S. National Under-18 Team, 8-2, in an exhibition on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.
Senior Luke Tuch and sophomore Quinn Hutson each lit the lamp, with freshman Macklin Celebrini and sophomore Devin Kaplan assisting on Tuch's goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cole Hutson opened the scoring for the U18s at 4:25 of the first period before Cole Eiserman added two more goals to give Team USA a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
- Hutson notched his second goal of the game at 5:14 of the second stanza, with Kristian Epperson and Max Plante following that with markers of their own to extend the lead to 6-0.
- Tuch got BU on the board at 17:26 of the second, but James Hagens answered at 18:01 to make it 7-1.
- After Eiserman completed his hat trick, Quinn Hutson closed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 17:01 of the third.
GAME NOTES
- Ten Terriers played in front of a home crowd for the first time, including goaltenders Henry Graham and Nick Howard, who saw their first action in a BU uniform this season.
- The other eight Agganis debutants were freshmen Aiden and Macklin Celebrini, Gavin McCarthy, Tom Willander, Jack Harvey, Mick Frechette, Shane Lachance, Doug Grimes.
- 2009 national champion and Hobey Baker Award winner Matt Gilroy returned to BU on Saturday as an assistant coach with the U18s.
UP NEXT
- BU will return to action on Oct. 20 and 21 when the Terriers visit Notre Dame for a two-game series.
- Both games will be streamed live on Peacock.
