McNulty Repeats As Patriot League Offensive Player Of The Week
October 9, 2023 | Women's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second week in a row, Boston University women's soccer senior captain Abigail McNulty has been selected as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon for the week of Oct. 9.
McNulty is the first Terrier this season to earn a second weekly award. She has now been selected as the Offensive Player of the Week four times in her career, and is the first Terrier to capture the recognition in consecutive weeks since former teammate Amy Thompson did so from Sept. 26-Oct. 3, 2022.
The forward scored what proved to be the game-deciding goal in BU's 4-2 victory over Lafayette on Oct. 7. In the 54th minute, she settled a stretch pass from junior Morgan Fagan, advancing on net and beating the Leopards' goalkeeper to the right post to put BU ahead 3-0. In total, she accounted for three shots in the match.
McNulty has scored three goals in her last two games, now tying for third on the team with her three tallies. Those three scores against Patriot League sides would rank first in the conference. In four contests this year, she sports a .250 shot percentage with 12 attempts.
In addition to McNulty's distinction, sophomores Giulianna Gianino and Mackenzie Stickelman received honorable mentions from the Patriot League. The duo also scored in BU's triumph over the Leopards.
BU returns to the pitch on Wednesday (Oct. 11), hosting Holy Cross on Pride Night with a Turnpike Trophy point up for grabs. Opening kick is slated for 6 p.m.
