BOSTON – Back on the road for two contests, the Boston University men's basketball team will renew a rivalry at former America East foe, UAlbany, on Wednesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
The two squads met twice annually from 2002-2013 until the Terriers joined the Patriot League and last faced off in New York in a non-conference matchup in 2018.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- After posting a 90-49 win vs. Vermont State University - Johnson on Sunday, BU is seeking its first win on the road, having dropped the four previous contests despite holding all opponents below 70 points. The Terriers have shot just 33.9 percent on the road compared to their 49.2 FG% home mark.
- Nine different Terriers have already scored in double figures at least once this year with sophomore Malcolm Chimezie (9.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg) posting a career-high 17 points against the Badgers this past weekend.
- Senior Miles Brewster (8.7 ppg) tallied a career-high 14 points in the same contest and leads BU with 18 assists and 13 steals. Sophomore Ben Roy (4.8 ppg) is just behind in assists at 14 total with seven steals.
- The Patriot League's last two Rookies of the Week, Matai Baptiste (8.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg) and Kyrone Alexander (8.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg), have combined for 12 steals and 15 3-pointers.
- Sophomore Otto Landrum (7.3 ppg) leads BU at 4.8 rpg with junior Ethan Okwuosa (6.7 ppg) close behind at 4.5 rpg with the team's lone double-double in a 95-79 win over Bryant.
- The Terriers are averaging 64.3 ppg and 39.5 FG% while holding opponents to 66.2 ppg and 42.0 FG%.
- After visiting the Great Danes, BU will face two more America East members at Case Gym in Maine (Dec. 9) and UMass Lowell (Dec. 22).
SCOUTING UALBANY
- Selected seventh in the America East poll following an 8-23 record last season, the Great Danes already own non-conference wins over in-state rivals in Army West Point (62-59), Siena (86-51) and Columbia (78-75). They dropped a tightly-contested 85-82 decision at Quinnipiac and will be hosting their first game of the season against the Terriers.
- Amar'e Marshall was named America East Player of the Week after totaling 16 points against the Black Knights and career-high 33 points against the Saints. Overall, he's averaging a team-high 18.0 ppg with 6.2 rpg and 2.5 apg.
- Sebastian Thomas is second in scoring at 16.7 ppg, having combined with Marshall for 17 3-pointers, while Jonathan Begle (11.0 ppg) has a team-high 7.7 rpg.
- Overall, UAlbany is averaging 75.0 ppg and 42.7 FG% while holding opponents to 76.3 ppg and 42.9 FG%.
- Third-year head coach Dwayne Killings served as an assistant on the Terriers' 2010-11 America East championship squad and has helped the squad claim each of the last two AE Rookies of the Year.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers lead the all-time series, 20-9, with a 9-4 road mark and are 9-1 over the last 10 meetings.
- BU posted a 71-61 road victory in 2018 to avenge an 88-74 home loss in 2017.
- In the previous road meeting, BU pulled out an 85-80 overtime in 2013.
