BOSTON – After finishing the semester with final exams, the Boston University men's basketball team is set to host UMass Lowell Friday at Case Gym with tip-off slated for 12 p.m.

Both teams are looking to bounce back from losses with the Terriers most recently falling at Dartmouth (64-53) on Dec. 13 and the River Hawks coming up just short to Central Connecticut State, 57-54, on Dec. 16.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 2-1 at home this season with wins over Bryant (95-79) and VTSU-Johnson (90-49). The Terriers dropped a 74-65 decision to Maine back on Dec. 6.
  • Demonstrating the youthfulness of the team with the graduation of all five starters and 10 Terriers last spring, BU has gone nine straight games switching between a win and a loss, the longest such streak since 2001-02. A win Friday would make it the longest streak in program history.
  • Two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week Kyrone Alexander leads BU at 8.9 ppg, just slightly ahead of senior Miles Brewster (8.6 ppg), junior Ethan Okwuosa (8.6 ppg) and sophomore Otto Landrum (8.5 ppg).
  • Landrum owns a team-high 5.7 rpg, and Brewster is dishing out a team-high 3.0 apg while boasting a team-high 18 steals.
  • Both Landrum and Okwuosa have earned a double-double this season in wins over Wagner and Bryant, respectively.
  • BU is averaging 65.5 ppg and 40.5 FG% while holding opponents to 66.2 ppg and 42.3 FG%.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
  • The River Hawks are 4-3 on the road compared to their 3-1 home mark with wins at Georgia Tech (74-71), Dartmouth (81-48), Stonehill (80-74) and Saint Peter's (69-61) alongside a hard-fought loss at Arizona State (71-69).
  • Guard and former La Salle transfer Ayinde Hikim leads UML at 17.6 ppg and 5.0 apg while shooting 37.8 3FG% with both Max Brooks (10.3 ppg) and Cam Morris III (10.2 ppg) also averaging double figures in points.
  • Forward and former St. Bonaventure transfer Abdoul Karim Coulibaly is averaging 12.8 ppg alongside a team-high 6.8 rpg but has missed the last six games due to injury. He totaled a combined 35 points against Georgia Tech and ASU.
  • Overall as a team, UML is averaging 78.5 ppg and 48.0 FG% while holding opponents to 66.5 ppg and 39.1 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 6-4, with a 4-1 home mark.
  • The River Hawks snapped a three-game losing streak last year with a 68-60 home win.
  • The Terriers only return 10 points from the contest with senior Anthony Morales contributing eight of them.
  • BU has won the last two home meetings in 2021 (72-62) and 2018 (79-60).
UP NEXT
