Men's Basketball Heads to Wagner for Sunday Afternoon Contest

BOSTON – Opening a two-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Wagner on Sunday with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is seeking its second consecutive win against the Northeast Conference following an 70-49 victory at preseason favorite Sacred Heart. 
  • The Terriers most recently saw their five-game home win streak snapped by Maine on Wednesday, 74-65, after they halted a six-game road losing streak against the Pioneers last Saturday.
  • Freshman Kyrone Alexander reached double-digit points for the fourth time against Maine to grab the team lead in scoring at 9.4 ppg. Sophomore Otto Landrum (7.4 ppg) and junior Malcolm Chimezie (6.8 ppg) are tied for the team lead at 4.8 rpg.
  • Senior Miles Brewster (8.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg) leads the Terriers at 3.3 apg alongside 15 stolen bases.
  • The Terriers are 3-0 when outscoring opponents in second-chance points and are 0-5 when behind in points off turnovers.
  • BU is averaging 65.9 ppg and 40.1 FG% while holding opponents to 67.3 ppg and 42.6 FG%. 
SCOUTING WAGNER
  • The Seahawks are on a two-game win streak following road wins at Coppin State (62-59) and Stony Brook (60-59). They are 2-0 at home with a 64-51 victory over NJIT and 83-48 win against Molloy. 
  • Wagner has three double-digit road losses to Rhode Island, Seton Hall and Providence along with an overtime defeat at Fordham (68-64).
  • Melvin Council Jr. leads Wagner with 13.6 ppg, while Tyje Kelton owns a team-high 5.3 rpg alongside 7.0 ppg.
  • Javier Ezquerra (5.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg) owns a team-high 3.0 apg with 1.8 spg.
  • Wagner is averaging 61.1 ppg and 35.7 FG% while holding opponents to 64.0 ppg and 43.8 FG%. The Seahawks keep the miscues to a minimum, averaging just 9.5 turnovers per game while forcing 13.6.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Wagner leads the all-time series, 4-2, with the teams facing off over a six-year period from 1977-1982.
  • BU is 2-1 all-time on the road, winning the last matchup in New York in 1982, 89-70.
