CHARLESTON, S.C. – Showing great discipline at the plate, the Boston University softball team cruised to a pair of 10-2 run-rule victories against Tennessee Tech and Cougar Classic host Charleston on Friday afternoon.
The Terriers (5-1) batted .488 with eight extra base hits and added nine walks alongside three hit-by-pitches to boast a .559 on-base percentage. Senior

HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back.
- Keleher started with a single and scored following a pair of wild pitches and Roncin's RBI single.
- With the bases loaded, Deppiesse delivered a two-RBI single that saw another run score due to a fielding error.
- In the second, senior Audrey Sellers singled to short and scored on Keleher's RBI triple that helped set up Roncin's RBI sac fly.
- After stranding two on base in the third against Boaz, TTU broke through in the fourth on a lead-off double and RBI single.
- BU loaded the bases again in the bottom half before junior Kate Pryor (single), Deppiesse (hit-by-pitch) and freshman Aimee Metz (single) all palted a run for the 9-1 advantage.
- The Golden Eagles kept the game alive by scoring a run off two BU errors in the top of the fifth but couldn't avoid the run-rule decision, as senior Caitlin Coker tripled to right and scored on graduate student Emily Gant's RBI sac fly.
GAME 2: BU - 10, Charleston - 2 (5 inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Roncin got stranded in the top of the first following a one-out double, Charleston started off strong against Ricard with a lead-off single and RBI double.
- The Cougars though tried to stretch the second hit into a triple and got thrown out at third by Keleher to help keep the deficit at just 1-0.
- Deppiesse scored the equalizer in the second by singling to left and scoring on junior Lauren Nett's RBI double.
- BU added five more runs with the help of Sellers' RBI bunt, Keleher's RBI single and Roncin's RBI single. Roncin raced to second and eventually scored on two throwing errors.
- Deppiesse added another run by walking to first, stealing second and scoring on Metz's RBI single to center.
- In the fourth, the Terriers scored three more runs by taking advantage of two walks with RBI sac flies from Coker and graduate student Nicole Amodio. Gant added an RBI triple as well for the 10-1 advantage.
- The Cougars scored a second run off two doubles in the final inning but couldn't mount a serious rally, as Ricard totaled four strikeouts over the last two innings for her second complete-game win.
DOUBLEHEADER NOTES
- With two walks and 59 total in her career, Keleher is just 11 away now from cracking the top 10 at BU.
