ALLSTON, Mass. – Playing its first ranked opponent of the season, the Boston University men's tennis team fell to No. 13 Harvard, 6-0, on Friday evening at the Murr Tennis Center.
Coupled with the earlier 4-0 victory over No. 75 Virginia Tech, the Crimson improve to 12-4, while the Terriers drop to 8-9.
BU came up just one break short of claiming the doubles point. Sophomore
Dion Loutas and freshman
Alejandro Licea cruised to a 6-1 win in the top slot, while Harvard posted a 6-2 victory at line 3. In the No. 2 match, sophomore
Cole Knutsen and junior
Jonah Dickson battled the Crimson to the end in a 6-4 loss.
In singles action, Loutas won his first set and was ahead, 6-4, 1-4, when the No. 1 match was halted. Freshman
Corey Craig won the most games in a tightly-contested 6-3, 7-6(5) defeat on the No. 2 court.
The Terriers will next open Patriot League play by facing Navy on Sunday (March 26) at the Winchester Tennis Club with a 10 a.m. start.
