The jumps squad carried their indoor success straight into the outdoor season with just about every athlete having their best opener to date. On the men's side, we came away with the top three spots in long jump. Stuart Bladon, in his first outdoor appearance in a BU uniform, jumped an overall personal record of 6.81m. Sam Roszak jumped an overall personal record of 7.20m and Ryan Rosenberger came away with the win jumping an overall personal record 7.39m.

On the women's side, these ladies took the win in the long jump, triple jump and pole vault. In the long jump, Jules Hogan won by jumping a mark of 5.69m, just 10cm shy of her overall PR. Jamie Chamberlain was right behind her in second, jumping a collegiate personal record of 5.56m after running another collegiate personal record in the 100m hurdles. In the triple jump, Emma Lawrence won with a jump and collegiate outdoor personal best of 11.99m. In pole vault, Lauren Sikoski took the win with her best collegiate season opener of 3.40m, setting herself up for a great season.

Next up for this squad will be split with some jumpers heading to UConn for the UConn Dogfight meet and others heading down to Florida for the Pepsi Florida Relays

Raleigh Relays

Nine members of the distance squad opened the season at the Raleigh Relays at NC State. Leading the Terriers' performances was sophomore Daisy Liljegren who competed in the 10,000m. In the 5,000m, senior Foster Malleck led the Terriers with a time of 14:12.95 which currently leads the Patriot League in the event. Next in for BU was freshman Freddy Collins (14:20.60) and was closely followed by senior Charlie Hammel (14:25.08). On the women's side, freshman Vera Sjöberg ran a 16:35.73 in her debut in the event.

Coach Carpenter on the Raleigh Relays

The Raleigh Relays at NC State is always one we circle on the calendar to kick off the outdoor season, especially for the 5,000m and 10,000m crew. For our top athletes, it's our first crack at setting NCAA qualifying marks whereas for our developing group, it's a high-quality meet to test their fitness coming off the indoor season. We left accomplishing both of these goals. Our first NCAA ticket of the year is booked as Daisy crushed her first 10,000m race of the season. The mark she laid down will not only secure her spot at the NCAA first round but should stand as one of the top marks across the NCAA for the season. She continues to establish herself as one of the elite long-distance runners in the NCAA.

In the 5,000m races, we brought some new faces to this event as Freddy Collins and Vera Sjöberg made their debuts at this distance. Both ran well and showcased their bright futures ahead in this event. Both athletes posted the fastest marks for any first-year in the PL this year! Vera also hit the European U23 qualifying standard where she will hope to represent her home country of Sweden this summer. We also saw strong runs by returners with Foster Malleck setting a PL-leading mark and Charlie Hammel running just shy of his lifetime best!
