BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior
Louis Perfetto and junior
Dane DeGoler of the Boston University men's lacrosse team earned weekly awards from the Patriot League, the conference announced on Monday.
Perfetto was chosen as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week while DeGoler was named PL Defensive Player of the Week. Both Terriers were excellent in a pair of BU wins this past week.
On Tuesday against Harvard, Perfetto paced BU with four assists and added a goal to complete a five-point night in the Terriers' 15-11 win over the Crimson. He followed that up with an absolutely sensational performance in a 12-10 win at Lafayette. Perfetto put the team on his back, scoring four of his six goals in the fourth quarter, including three straight that turned a 9-9 score into a 12-9 Terrier lead. Perfetto finished the week with 12 points, totaling seven goals and five assists, and has averaged 6.25 points per game over his last four starts. He now leads BU with 20 assists and is second on the squad with 39 points (19g, 20a)
DeGoler's best game of the week and of his career was on Tuesday against Harvard. He recorded a career-high six caused turnovers and collected a career-best seven ground balls in the 15-11 win. He was also part of a man-down unit that held Harvard, the top man-up team in the NCAA, to an 0-for-4 mark. DeGoler also scored from 65-yards out late in the fourth quarter to all but ice the game for BU. He then grabbed three ground balls and forced a giveaway at Lafayette on Saturday. DeGoler now has 23 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers this season.
This was the first PL weekly award for both Perfetto and DeGoler. The duo will travel to Annapolis, Maryland, on Friday night as the Terriers face Navy on CBS Sports Network.
