LONG BEACH, Calif. – After securing the doubles point and winning three singles matches, the Boston University women's tennis team (9-4, 1-0 PL) defeated Long Beach State (4-5, 2-1 Big West) in a 4-3 decision on Thursday.Â

In doubles, LBSU won in the No. 2 spot first, but BU fought past the deficit. Junior
Victoria Carlsten and freshman
Emily Zhao's 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot helped the Terriers get closer to securing the point. After a battle at the top of the lineup, junior
Kaitlin Tan and senior
Erica Di Battista edged their opponents 7-6 to give BU the doubles point.

In singles, Carlsten was first to get a point for BU in a 6-1, 6-2 decision. She was followed by grad student
Shelly Yaloz at the top of the lineup who won 6-4, 6-1. The final Terrier to win in singles was Tan who battled to a 7-5 first set win and a 6-2 second set victory.Â

BU heads back to the east coast for a Sunday (March 12) match against Denver which will be played at Harvard. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
