Softball Claims DH Sweep at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Helped by two strong pitching performances and timely hitting, the Boston University softball team claimed a doubleheader sweep at Bucknell on Friday afternoon.

The Terriers (35-7, 8-0 PL) scored all five runs in the first game with two outs for a 5-1 win over the Bison (10-24, 2-9 PL) and then claimed their 20th shutout of the season in a 3-0 game two victory. BU doubled Bucknell in hits, 20-10, and earned all six extra-base hits on the day to extend the nation's longest active road win streak to 13 contests.

Graduate student Emily Gant went a combined 3-for-7 with a team-high three RBIs, as six of her teammates tabulated multiple hits in the DH. Sophomore Tyesha Williams compiled four hits, including an RBI single, while graduate student Nicole Amodio hit a solo homer. Both senior Caitlin Coker and junior Lauren Keleher earned a triple to help the Terriers grab the nation's top slot at 24 total.

In the circle, senior Allison Boaz (17-4) scattered seven hits over seven innings with the help of three strikeouts against two walks to limit Bucknell to one unearned run. Freshman Kasey Ricard (14-2) then totaled 10 strikeouts while allowing just one walk for a three-hit shutout.

  • Amodio put BU's lead back at four runs by launching a 3-1 pitch to center with two outs in the top of the seventh.
